Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1976: " Joseph J. Balkenbush, 91, of Linn, died at the Linn Manor Rest Home where he was a resident the past six months. Death occurred Sunday evening, January 25, (1976). Mr. Balkenbush was born April 19, 1884, at Linn, the son of Herman and Sybilla Fisher Balkenbush. He was self employed in real estate sales. He was married to Annie C. Boillot at Linn. She passed away Nov. 15, 1935. On April 23, 1936, he was married to Mary C. Voss at Omaha, Nebr.. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ray Balkenbush, Denver, Colo.; and Everett Balkenbush, Linn; one daughter, Mrs. Albin (Helen) Bret of Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. One brother, Herman Balkenbush of St. Louis also survives. He was a charter member of St. George Branch S. C. U. and of St. George Catholic Church where services will be held Thursday. Rev. Wm. Bolin of St. Louis and Rev. Kevin Gromley of Loose Creek will officiate at the service. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery at Linn. Rosary service is scheduled for Wednesday at the Morton Funeral Chapel."
