Obit., 1972 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Alvis Baily dies; services held Saturday. Alvis L. Bailey, 64, of Rte. 2, Iberia, died at his home Thursday, July 6, 1972. Mr. Bailey was born Nov. 15, 1907 near St. Anthony, in Miller County, the son of Robert and Deliah (Burlingame) Bailey. He was married Jan. 9, 1930 at Tuscumbia to Velma Clark who survives. Mr. Bailey lived all of his life in Miller County, near St. Anthony where he was a farmer and stockman. On January 1, 1950, he started the Bailey Truck Line in Iberia. He also drove a school bus for St. Anthony for 12 years. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Fairview Christian Church and the Miller County Foxhunters' Assn. Surviving other than his wife, Velma, are one son, Ellis Bailey of Iberia; four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Helton of Scott Air force Base, Ill.; Mrs. Velma Jean Nichelson and Mrs. Mathel Alexander, both of Dixon, and Mrs. Annette Dake of Iberia; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Grosvenor of St. Elizabeth; one brother, Willis Bailey of Eldon and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Fairview Christian church with the Rev. Mark Sooter and the Rev. Gary Gulley officiating. Burial was in the Jarrett Cemetery near Iberia under the direction of the Stevinson funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Donald Jarrett, Herb Otto, Charles Voss, Leonard Bax, Henry Heckemeyer and Urban Voss."
