Obituary in " Unterrified Democrat" - April 1973. Joseph H. Vermoilen, 78, Freeburg, died Saturday at a hospital in Columbia, Missouri after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 24, 1894 at Rich Fountain, the son of Charles and Christine Bexten Vermoilen, who survives. Mr. Vermoilen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rich Fountain. He was an overseas veteran of WW 1 and a member and organizer of the American Legion Post # 317, Freeburg. Other survivors include; Two sons, Robert A. Vermoilen of the home; and Jerome C. Vermoilen of Freeburg; a step-son, Henry L. Koerber of St. Louis; two step-daughters, Mrs. Norbert Redel of Westphalia and Mrs. Martin Welschmeyer of Freeburg; four sisters, Mrs. Jake Struemph of Wasco, California; Mrs. Charles Luetkemeyer and Mrs. Henry Reichter, both of Freeburg; and Mrs. Ben Fechtel of Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Rich Fountain with the Rev. Robert Arnold officiating. Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg.
