Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper: 'William M. Barnhart of Granite City, passed away at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home there Jan. 19, 1976. He was 93 years old. He was born at Meta, Mo., March 5, 1882, where he grew to manhood and was married, moving to Granite City shortly thereafter. His wife, Eleanor, preceded him in death. Survivors include: three sons, Ralph Barnhart, St.Louis; Fred of Edwardsville, Ill.; and Wm. of St. Louis. One son, Clay, preceded him in death. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He has many relative in the Meta area. Funeral services were held Jan. 22, at the Mercer Mortuary Chapel in Granite City. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery there. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Barnhart of Meta attended the funeral services."
