Obituary, mid-Missouri newspaper: "August G "Gus" Bax, 98, St. Elizabeth, died Wednesday (13 July 1997) at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born November 8, 1898 in St. Elizabeth, a son of Joseph and Anna Dickneite Bax. He was married November 11, 1924 in St. Anthony, to Rosa D Braun who survives at the home. A farmer, he was a lifelong resident of St. Elizabeth. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth. Other survivors include: two sons, Norman J Bax, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Giles A Bax, St. Petersburg, Florida; one daughter Lorraine Bax, Kaiser; two brothers, Anton Bax and Victor Bax, both of St. Elizabeth; two sisters, Catherine Hoecker, St. Elizabeth, and Martha Berendzen, Mary's Home; 10 grandchildfen and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The Rev. John Degnan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery."
