Obit, mid-Missouri newspaper, 1971 - Mrs. Gillen Dies at Age of 73 Services for Mrs. Josephine Maasen Gillen, 73, were held Monday March 29, 1971, in the Cunningham Sacred Heart Church in Cunningham, Kingman County, Kansas, with the Rev. Father Roble, officiating. Burial was in the Cunningham Church Cemetery. Mrs. Gillen was born July 22 1897 in Linn, Missouri and died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, March 26th, in the Pratt County Hospital, following a long illness. At the age of 18 she moved to the Willowdale community and married Aloysius J. Gillen, August 30, 1916. They had been residents of Cunningham for the last 45 years. Mr. Gillen died January 1, 1968. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Suzanne) Kitson, Cunningham, Mrs. Avery (Johanna) Shumway, Preston; and Mrs. Theodore (Martha) Ogle, Chardon, Ohio; a son Vincent of Lyons; and brothers, Herman Maasen, Jefferson City, and Joe Maasen, Linn, There are 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
