Obit., 1966 - mid-Missouri newspaper: Buel Gilbert dies in Texas L. B. (Buell) Gilbert, native of Osage County, was born at Lane, near Linn, on May 12, 1893, the son of Edward A Gilbert and his wife Cora Herndon Gilbert, and passed away at the Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital in Kilgore, Texas, January 28, 1966 after a 3 months illness. He was a retired barber of Kilgore and had resided in that area for the past 35 years. He is survived by his widow and 3 sons, Buell, Jr., Eddie M Gilbert of Houston, Texas and Phillip Gilbert of Longview Texas. He is survived by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. They are Orville Gilbert, Paraguld, Arkansas, Dr. Edward Gilbert, Gape Girardeau, Missouri, Tremain (Jimmy) Gilbert, Phoenix, Arizona and Frances Gilbert, Levasy, Missouri. The sisters are Mrs. Mary Mantle, St. Louis, Mrs. May Brown, Hagerstown, Indiana, Mrs. Lora Langendoerffer, Chamois, and Mrs. Cora Boillet, Linn. Also surviving are 3 half sisters, Mrs. Joe Lippish, Mrs. Bud Tabor and Mrs. Bertha Roberts all of St. Louis, and his step mother, Mrs.! > Sarah Ballard of Burned Prairie, Illinois, and many other Osage County, > relatives. Buell, as he was known by his many friends in this area, was a > veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Laird Hill Baptist Church > near Kilgore, Texas, the Kilgore Lions Club, the American Legion and Rocky > Mount Masonic Lodge No. 62. Funeral services were conducted Sunday > afternoon at 2:00 plm. at the Laird Hill Baptist Church near Kilgore with > Rev. V. M. Napper officiating. Burial was in the Kilgore Cemetery.
