Obit., 1973 - mid-Missouri newspaper Mrs. Adkins Dies Rites Tuesday died: 23 September 1973 " Mrs. Gertie Adkins (78) Meta, died Sunday at Charles E Still Hospital. Mrs. Adkins was born September 16, 1895, the daughter of Mark and Almeta Ellis Vaughan. On January 19, 1913, she was married in Maries County to Andrew Aikins, who died November 18, 1957. Survivors include: two sons, Thurmond Adkins, Vienna and Melvin Adkins, Meta; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wallace, Curryville, Mrs. Evelyn Terwilliger, Eldon and Miss Eunice Adkins, Iberia; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smyrna Church of Christ near Iberia with Brother Earl J Dixon officiating. Burial was in Chrismon Cemetery, Dixon."
