Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1982: " Cornell August "Bob" Werner, 85, Westphalia, died Saturday at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, Columbia, following a lingering illness. He was born September 14, 1896 at Westphalia, a son of August and Gertrude Lueckenhoff Werner. On November 21, 1921, he was married at Ironton to Maurine Barnhouse, who died August 27, 1971. A retired state employee, Mr. Werner was a member of Holy Name of St. Joseph Church, American Legion Post 544, Roy Sone Post V. F. W. and the Missouri Historical Society. Survivors include a brother, Alphonse "Jim" Werner, Jefferson City. Funeral services were held Monday at St. Joseph Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Peter Walsh officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the VA Hospital Nursing Home Care Unit."
