Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977: " Harold Gaylord Boyce, 48, was born at Mint Hill, Sept. 4, 1924, the son of Joseph D. (Gaylord) and Katherine McGuire Boyce and died at Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, Kans., Wednesday morning, June 29, 1977, after a lengthy illness. He was never married and is survived by four brothers; Edwin Boyce, Springfield,; Chas. Boyce, Joplin; Norman Boyce, U. S. Air Force; and Marvin Boyce, Springfield; four sisters, Mary - Mrs. Myron McIntosh, Joplin; Evelyn - Mrs. Chester Sesata, St. Louis; Wilma - Mrs. J. D. Hogg, N. Carolina; and Norma - Mrs. Dewey Greenwell, Columbia. The Gaylord Boyce family will be remembered in the Linn community as they resided here for a number of years where the family grew up and attended the Linn schools. Mr. Boyce was employed by the Mo. State Highway Dept. until his death several years ago. His mother died unexpectedly in the hospital three years ago. After Harold graduated from Linn High School, he entered the Air Force. When he was discharged from the service he made his home in Kansas City where he was employed. The Mortons Service was called to remove his mortal remains from the VA Hospital in Leavenworth and arrange for services which had to be delayed until his brother who is serving with the Air Force arrived. The services were conducted at the Buescher Chapel in Jefferson City Friday with Rev. Michael Keith of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City."
