Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1975: "Anton Brendel, 84, of Freeburg, died Monday, June 2, 1975, at a Columbia hospital following a three-month illness. Mr. Brendel was born Jan. 17, 1891, at Rich Fountain, the son of John and Gertrude Reichel Brendel. He was married Feb. 9, 1926, to the former Miss Anna Herzing, who survives. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where services were held Thursday with the Rev. Jos. Lawlor officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. He was a member of the Freeburg American Legion post and the Married Men's Sodality. He served in the United States Army during World War I. Other survivors include; two son, Ray Brendel, Freeburg, and Anthony Brendel, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Christine Wallace, Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. Carol Koltenborn, St. Louis; one brother, Louis Brendel, Freeburg, one sister, Mrs. Herman Wolfgum, Vienna; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren."
