Obit., 1976 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Mrs. Sallie A. Barnett, 83, of Meta, died Wed., Nov. 10, 1976 at St. Mary's Health Center. Mrs. Barnett was born Aug. 29, 1893 near Meta, the daughter of John and Permilia Pendleton Stokes. In March 1916, she was married to Charles Emory, who died in 1920. In 1934, she was married to Laymon Barnett, who died in 1953. She was a member of the Campground Christian Church near Meta. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Elsie E. Emory, Waynesville; Mrs.. Millrene Cross, Meta; one brother, Albert Stokes, Meta; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Pendleton, Vincennes, Ind.; and 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at the meta Christian Church with the Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Burial was in the Crismon Cemetery near Brinktown."
