Obit., 1976 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Louis L. Backes, 64, a lifelong resident and merchant of Loose Creek, died Saturday evening, April 17, 1976. Mr. Backes was born Feb. 29, 1912 in Frankenstein, the son of Henry and Annie L. Kluth Backes. He was married on June 13, 1939 in Jefferson City to the former Viola W. Jaegers, who survives. Mr. Backes was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek and active in church and civic affairs. Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Williams, Loose Creek; and Mrs. Gerry Stratman, Sedalia; four sisters, Mrs. Theresa Haslag and Mrs. Josephine Haslag, both of Loose Creek; Mrs. Catherine Schaefer, Jefferson City; and Mrs. Bertha Jaegers, Linn; a brother, Fred Backes, St., New Haven; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Loose Creek, with the Rev. Kevin Gormley officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery."
