"Unterrified Democrat," Mid-Missouri newspaper, Thursday, Oct. 12, 1944: Dr. Charles Bernard Luetkemeyer, one of Osage County's prominent citizens was born at St. Elizabeth, Miller County, Missouri on May 14, 1889. He was the son of Anton and Emma Luetkemeyer. He departed this life at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri Monday morning, after a decline in health caused by heart disease over a period of 5 years. Dr. Luetkemeyer was united in marriage to Miss Pauline Vermoilen of Freeburg, Missouri at St. Louis, Missouri, just after the Armistice of World War 1 in which he served in the armed forces and to them were born 13 children, all of whom together with his wife, survive him. Olivie is a nurse in De Paul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri; Charles B. is in the U.S. Navy in South America; Francis is in the U.S. Navy in Corpus Christi, Texas; Edwin is in the U.S. Army Air Corps, overseas; Rosemary of St. Louis, Missouri; Ambrose, Laurice, Arlene, Ann Estelle, Marcella, Paul and Mary Ann of the home. He is survived by sisters and brothers; Father L. L. Luetkemeyer of Marshall, Tex., also sister Ann at Marshall, Tex.Mrs. H. O. Langsford of Webster Groves, Missouri., his twin sister, Mrs. A. J. Schauwacher of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Chris Hoer of Jefferson City, Missouri.,Mrs. Bruno Schauwacher of Chicago, Ill., Silas and Joe Luetkemeyer of Chicago, Ill, William and Bernard Luetkemeyer of St. Elizabeth, Missouri. He graduated from Barnes Dental College in St. Louis, Missouri during World War 1 and was inducted in the army immediately after. At the end of the war, he was discharged from Camp Funston, Kans., and returned at once to Freeburg, where he opened a dental office and at the same time he and Mrs. Luetkemeyer established a home. Until his health began to fail, he maintained offices in Westphalia, Vienna, Rich Fountain and Brinktown. Dr. Luetkemeyer was a leader in all community affairs, being a life long member of Holy Family Catholic Church, at where he served as president for the Men's Society for years. Other organizations of which he was a member and officer at the time of his death were; The American Legion, Knights of Columbus of Freeburg, School Board, Chairman of the Freeburg District of Osage County War Finance Committee in which every War Bond has accomplished outstanding work, a member of the Red Cross and Missouri Dental Association. The funeral was held at 9:30 Thursday morning at the Freeburg Catholic Church with pastor Rev. Bernard Groner officiating at the solemn Requiem Mass. Graveside services were held by the American Legion with a detachment from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. participating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with arrangements in charge of Morton Funeral Home."

    3. Note that Emma is not the correct name for the mother of Charles. As shown on his death certificate and other sources she was Anna (Massman) Luetkemeyer.
