Meta Herald Thursday 17 July 1947 Aged Westphalia Woman Succumbs Mrs. Elizabeth Brune, 89, lifelong resident of Osage county, died early last Friday morning at the home of a son near Westphalia. Mrs. Brune, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Mertz, pioneer Osage county residents, resided in the Westphalia and Freeburg communities most of her life. She was a member of the Freeburg Catholic Church and the Married Ladies Sodality. She was born near Rich Fountain, June 9, 1858 and in 1880 was married to Peter Brune who died in 1932. She leaves eight children, Mrs. Herman Rehagen, Freeburg; Mrs. Henry Loehner, Koeltztown; Mrs. Stephen Holtermann, California state; Frank and John Brune of Dixon, Emil of Dodge, Nebraska; Henry of Freeburg and August of Westphalia. She is survived also by 36 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Frank Eisterhold of Rich Fountain, also survives. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from Holy Family church at Freeburg by her pastor Rev. Father Grone.
