Obit, mid-Missouri newspaper, 1971 - " Mrs. Galena Welch Copeland, 78 wife of Emitt Copeland of St. James, died Sept. 16, 1971 at Columbia. She was the daughter of the late J. M. and Victoria Sewell and was born June 17, 1893. She was married to William Boely Welch on Nov. 26, 1912. To this union were born nine children. Jimmie and Annie preceded her in death at an early age, and her husband, Boley, died in 1954. In 1962 she married Mr. Copeland. Surviving with the husband are the son, Cecil Welch, St. James; six daughters, Myrtle Rinehart, Mae Gunset and Betty Grotha, St. James; Wilma Lipton, Vichy; Jane Spurgeon, Bland; and Grace Carlin, Anderson, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Christina Brown, and a brother, John Sewell. There are also four stepchildren, Russ, Don, Art, and Gladys. Funeral services were held the following Saturday at St. James with burial made in the Oak Forest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Rhinehart,(sp?), Wayne Rinehart, Paul Rowlan, Alva VanDorn, Richard Grotha and Russ Copeland.
