    3. Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1975: " Mrs. Elsie Jane Bauer, 81, Chamois, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 29, 1975, at her home. She was born Dec. 12, 1893, at Linn, the daughter of Pete and Mary Jane Turner Vaughan. On Oct. 26, 1914, she was married to William W. Bauer at Linn. He died Nov. 6, 1957. Mrs. Bauer was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church of Chamois and a member of the WSCS Guild at the church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active in civic and fraternal organizations in the Chamois area. Mrs. Bauer and her husband operated a hardware store in Chamois for more than 40 years. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs.. Elanora Kaullen, Chamois; and Mrs. Lorene Gaertner, Wentzville; one brother, Allan Vaughan, Linn; one sister, Miss Myrtle Vaughan, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Chamois with the Rev. Art Reed officiating. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery near Chamois."
