Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1974 : "William W. Champlain, 68, Meta, died Tuesday, November 26th (1974) at Charles E. Still Hospital. Mr. Champlain was born Oct. 2, 1906 at Meta, the son of Marion and Cora Knochel Champlain. On Jan. 22, 1949, he was married in Pueblo, Colo. to the former Cecelia Abbate, who survives at the home. He was a retired carpenter. Other survivors include: three sons, Bill Champlain, Parker, Colo.; Howard Champlain, Pueblo, Colo.; and Edwin Champlain, Colorado; two step-sons, Joseph Abbate, Pueblo, Col; and C. D. Abbatee, New Mexico; one daughter, Mrs. Dora lee Buff, Pueblo, Colo.; and one step-daughter, Mrs. Rose Parish, Pueblo, Colo. Two brothers, Harrison and Leonard Champlain, both of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Nellie Burd, Jefferson City and Mrs. Rose Simpson, Miss Ann Champlain and Mrs.. Opal Fasulis, all of the state of California; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services were Thursday at the Freeman Chapel, Jefferson City, with the Rev. John Glosser officiating. Burial was in Pueblo, Colorado."
