Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1974: " Mrs. Sarah Hayes, 99, of Linn, died Wednesday, July 3, (1974) at a Jefferson City hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Mint Hill community. Mrs. Hayes was born March 10, 1875 near Linn, the daughter of Anton and JoAnne Sieg Baclesse. She was married Dec. 20, 1892, near Linn to William F. Hayes, who died June 13, 1924. Survivors include: one son, Louis Hayes, Linn; three daughters, Mrs. Della DeGood, Batvia, Iowa; Mrs. Bessie Trucks, Eugene; Mrs. Belle Eads, Morrison; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Services were Saturday at the Morton Chapel, Linn, with Rev. Charles W. Miller officiating. Burial was in the Shirley Cemetery at Chamois."
