Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1972: " Mrs. Tillie Champlain, 76, of Freeburg, died Monday night, February 7, (1972), at the Health Care Nursing Home in Columbia. Mrs. Champlain was born Aug. 2, 1895 at Rich Fountain, the daughter of John and Gertrude Reichel Brendel. She was married to Frank Champlain, who died in 1970. Survivors include two brothers, Anthony and Louis Brendel, both of Freeburg; one sister, Mrs. Marie Wolfrum, Vienna. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Bernard Timpe officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Birmingham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
