Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper; 1972: Mrs. Gerling Dies at Age 83 " Mrs. Theresia Margaret Gerling, 83, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, April 16, (1972) at St. Mary Hospital after a long illness. She was born Aug. 11, 1888, at St. Thomas, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Loethen Schmidt. She was married Nov. 9, 1910 at St. Thomas to Louis Gerling, who died in 1953. Mrs. Gerling attended St. Thomas schools and had made her home in St. Thomas before moving to Jefferson City in 1953. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church, the St. Thomas Catholic Church Altar Society and LaSalette Auxiliary. She had been employed at the LaSalette Seminary for several years before here retirement. Survivors include a son, Michael B. Gerling and a daughter, Mrs. Cletus Kramer, both of Jefferson City and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Norman J. Ahrens officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery, St. Thomas."
