Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1974: " Robert William Engelage, Sr. was born in Chamois, Mo., on November 25, 1902, the son of the late Wilhelm Engelage and his wife Emma (nee Nolte) died Saturday morning, April 20, 1974 after a long illness at the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, reaching the age of 71 years, 4 months and 25 days. He received his education in the Chamois schools and as a young man became a telegrapher for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and after working in many different towns. In 1948, he became the depot agent in Chamois. He retired in 1970, when the Chamois Depot closed, after he had worked 47 years for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. On June 2, 1928, he as married to Miss Dorothy Meyers in St. Louis, she survives along with two children, Robert, Jr., of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mrs. Norma Jean Streddo of Springfield, Mo.; also six grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Lydia, and a son-in-law, Humbert and other relatives and many friends. One brother, Victor, preceded him in death in 1972. After resting at the Meyer Funeral Home, services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Chamois Methodist Church with interment in the Oakland Cemetery."
