Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1973: " Mrs. Caroline M. Ettling, 84, Linn, died last Wednesday ( Dec. 5, 1973) morning at the home of her daughter in Linn. Mrs. Ettling was born April 16, 1889 in DuQuoin, Ill, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Bretch. In 1908, she was married to Gustave P. Ettling, who died in 1952. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Herman Athmer, Linn; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Gardner Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.. Burial was in the Walnut Hills Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois."
