Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1923: " Mr. W. L. Davies informs us of the death of Rufus Evans, which occurred about 2 weeks ago. (Dec. 1923). Mrs. Evans was the youngest son of Jesse Evans, sheriff and collector of Osage County from 1852 to `856 and was born and reared near "old Vanburen" about six miles south of Linn and lived in the county until about 30 years ago when he went to Kansas City. He was about 65 years old."
