    3. Obit., 1974 - mid-Missouri newspaper; " Harvey W. Barnhart, 86, of Meta, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 1974 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Columbia. He was born January 25, 1887 in Maries County near Meta, the son of William and Betsey (Barnhart) Barnhart. He spent all his life in the Meta area where he farmed and had also worked in construction and been a trucker. Mr. Barnhart served in the Army in World War I. He was a member of the Meta Christian Church. Preceding him in death were two sisters, Della Barnhart and Bertha Stokes and one brother, Oliver Barnhart. Surviving are: two sister - Mrs. Ida Stokes, Modesto, Calif.; and Mrs. Etta Barnhart, Ottawa, Kansas; 2 nieces, Mrs. Lola Rollins, Jefferson City; and Mrs. Lorene Scott, Meta; and 2 nephews, Leonard Barnhart and Tony Stokes, Jefferson City. Funeral services were held Friday, January 25 at the Stevinson Chapel in Meta, Mo., with Rev. Earl Jones officiating. Interment was in the Stokes Cemetery with military graveside rites under the auspices of the Ft. Leonard Wood Mortuary Team. Arrangements were under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home, Meta, Mo. Pallbearers were: Tony Stokes, Ray Stokes, Clay Scott, Gary Scott, Leonard Barnhart and Muriel Barnhart."

Mr. Bret was born in France and came to this country with is widowed mother when but about 7 years old, his father having died in France before the family left that country. About 49 years ago, Mr. Bret and Miss Amelia Boillot were united in marriage, from which union were born the following children, all living; Fred, Louis, Paul, Elmer, Jule, Eugene and William Bret, and Mrs. Ellen Vogel. The wife of the deceased died April 9, 1923. Deceased is also survived by a half-brother, Emil Vincent. After an appropriate funeral service conducted at the Catholic Church at Bonnots Mill by the pastor, Rev. John Schramm, February 25th, the deceased was buried in the cemetery near Bonnots Mill."

He was born September 30, 1905, at Hartsburg, the son of Elijah and Minnie Bledsoe. He was married to the former Florence Nixon, who survives. He attended a public school in Hartsburg, Mo.. He was employed with several steamboat companies until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Survivors include: one son, James U. Bledsoe, 408 Church St., Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Ann Hinton, Bloomsdale; three sisters - Mrs. Ethel Cheney and Mrs. Rose Keeling, both of 10 Jackson St., and Mrs. Myrtle Schaefer, Bonnots Mill, and eight grandchildren. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City."

    3. Obit., 1973, mid-Missouri newspaper; Former Linn Residents Burned to Death " Gordon P. (Sonny) Brown, age 46 and his wife, Juana, age 45, died of suffocation in their home in Lakewood, Colorado on April 14, 1973. Sonny was born in Pine Lawn, Mo., (St. Louis County) in 1926. He attended Roosevelt grade school in Normandy, graduating from Linn High School in 1944. He joined the army in 1945 and was station in Lawton, Oklahoma. He served 2 years in Pusan, Korea. After his discharge from the army, he attended college in Warrensburg, majoring in music. He taught music and English in the Kansas City high school, sold insurance and later became associated with Gold Bond Stamp Company. He was vice -president and regional manager at the Denver office. Juana, his wife, was born in Norborne, Mo., and attended college in Fayette, Mo.. She and Sonny were married in Kansas City in 1948. Four children survive: Sydni, Gordon, Rana and Katie. A little girl passed away in 1968. Gordon leaves his mother, Delma Brown, Linn; and a half-brother, Lyle Brown, Jr. who lives in Michigan. His father, Lyle Brown, Sr. passed away in 1964. Sonny was a grandson of Mrs. Katie Phillips who resides at the Linn Manor Nursing home. Juana leaves two sisters. A memorial service was held at Olinger Chapel in Denver on April 19th with Rev. Howard Meyer of Jefferson City officiating. Mrs. Delma Brown attended the service."

She was born January 9, 1880 at Woolridge, the daughter of David and Catherine Young Schilb. She was married to Louis Gatchet who died in 1942. She was married on January 5, 1952 to William Kearney Boyce, who survives. She is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Buren Rose, Charlotte, North Carolina; one step-son, E. V. Boyce of Dallas, Tex.; 7 grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the California Methodist Church. Although she was not well known in Osage County, her husband, Kearney Boyce has many relatives here."

He spent the early years of his life in Osage County. He was married to Eva Allen of Osage County. He died in Kansas City on Saturday, January 22, 1966, after a lingering illness. He taught school in rural Schools of Osage county for several years. He had lived at Kansas City for many years. Mr. Boyce was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Wanda Wyatt, Boyd Boyce and Mrs. Beulah Ruckel, all of Kansas City; five grandchildren; one brother, Kearney Boyce of California, Mo.. He was buried in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday, January 25, 1966."

She was born in Indiana and for many years was employed as a linotype operator on the Daily Butte Miner. Mrs. Bryant died Tuesday (23 Nov. (?) 1942 ) at her home In Butte, Montana, after several months of illness. Funeral services were held at Butte."

Obit., 1973 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Osage County's first drowning this year occurred Sunday, June 17, 1973 in the Gasconade River at the Rollins Ferry access near Linn, when 18 year old Thomas Ray Busch of Hope lost his live while swimming with a companion. The young man was a 1973 graduate of Linn High School. The body was recovered in 20 feet of water Monday about 9 a.m. according to Coroner Clyde Morton. The youth was born June 8, 1955 at Hope to Elmer and Naomi Strate Busch. He was a member of the United Church of Christ at Ryors. A brother, Robert Busch, also drowned in the Gasconade River near Hope on May 2, 1959. The immediate survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Busch, one brother, Dennis Busch of the home, and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Judy) Keeler of Jefferson City. Funeral services are being held today (Wednesday) with Morton's Service in charge at the Ryors United Church of Christ near Hope with Rev. Elmer Koch officiating. Burial is to be in the Ryors Cemetery."

Funeral services were held Monday at the Hill man Funeral Home, Overland. Burial was in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, St. Louis."

He apparently suffered a heart attack at the Rackers and Baclesse (sp?) Lumber Company, where he served as vice-president. He was born near Linn on Nov. 27, 1889, the son of Albert and Millie Malan Baclesse. He attended the Flora rural school in Osage County. On Jan. 3, 1915, in Osage County, he was married to Miss Pearl Morton, who survives. Until 1952, he was an active farmer in Osage County, then moved to Jefferson City to become associated with his son in the building business. Other survivors include: one son, Buell A. Baclesse, Jefferson City; two daughters - Mrs. Helen Gertlette, Jefferson City, and Mrs.. Jewell Range, Neosho; one brother, Edward Baclesse, Linn; three sisters - Mrs. Clara Gove, Linn; Mrs. Josie Tharp and Mrs. Ella Herndon, both of Uhrichsville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services were held in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens."

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 23rd at Salem Presbyterian Church. She was one of ten children born to Gottlieb and Wilhelmina Wollbrink Hilkerbaumer in the Charlotte community on January 11, 1883. At the age of 13, she was confirmed in the St. James Evangelical Church. On May 16, 1918, she was married to Henry Brinkmann, who died March 14, 1941. A step-son, Victor Brinkman, preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sons - Francis Brinkman of Morrison and Harry Hilkebaumer of Hope; four step-children - Clarence Brinkmann of Morrison; Mrs. Martin Holtensmeyer of Corder; Alfred Brinkmann of Sappington; Mrs. Herbert Kurrelmeyer of Bay; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Hope-Salem Cemetery."

He spent his younger years in Frankenstein and later in St. Louis. He has lived in LaBell, Fla. for the last 40 years. He was married to the former Betty Mantle. Survivors include four sons - Everett Burchard, Dave Burchard, Earl Burchard and Orville Burchard, all living in Florida; and one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Williams of St. Louis. His brother, Leonard Burchard still lives in Frankenstein. He was a great-uncle to Mr. George Wolfe, postmaster at Linn."

Mr. Bryan was born Aug. 27, 1909 at Chamois, the son of Frank F. and Amelia Schieber Bryan. He was married Jan. 18, 1942 to the former Miss Carmen Campbell, who died April 30, 1967. Mr. Bryan was a member of the Chamois Methodist Church, a member and past master of the Chamois Masonic Lodge. He was also a member and past patron of the Golden Order of Eastern Star at Chamois, Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine. Survivors include: one daughter, Miss Patricia Ann Bryan of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Rachel Sudemeyer, Dallas, Tex.; Miss Marian Bryan, Washington, D. C. ; Mrs. C. L. Aredes and Mrs. Lester Best, both of St. Louis; and one brother, Barney Bryan, St. Louis. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Chamois Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mr. Buescher was born Nov. 17, 1881 at Freedom to William C. and Augusta Garver Buescher. A retired farmer and stockraiser, he lived most of his life in Freedom. He was married April 25, 1912 to Miss Hannah Bogle, who survives. Other survivors include: four sons- Clarence Buescher, Loose Creek; Everett Buescher, Fruitland, Idaho; Silas Buescher, Bland; Oscar Buescher, St. Clair; four daughters - Mrs. B. Rolla Holland and Mrs. E. Benton, both of St. Clair; Mrs. Bert Gelvan, Belle; Mrs. Albert Brautigam, Washington; three sisters - Mrs. Bertie Enke, Linn; Mrs. Augusta Schneider, Owensville; Mrs. Minnie Bentlage, Linn; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.. Mr. Buescher was a long-time member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Saturday in the Morton Chapel, Linn by the Rev. Roy Jett. Burial was in the Lane Cemetery near Freedom."

She was born December 3, 1881 at Linn to Peter Vaughan and his wife, the former Mary Jane Turner. In 1903, she was married to Robert Bacon. He preceded her in death three years ago. Mrs. Bacon is survived by a daughter, Mary, Mrs. Norman Austinson of Kansas City. Four children preceded her in death. Also surviving are two grandchildren and 4 grand-grandchildren; a brother, Mr. Al Vaughan, Linn; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Bauer, Chamois and Miss Myrtle Vaughan, Jefferson City. Mrs. Bacon made her home in Linn until 33 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the Morton Chapel in Linn on Monday, November 20, with Rev. Glenn Mangam officiating. Interment was in the Linn Public Cemetery. Pall bearers who served were: Jack and Dennis Austinson, Russell Bacon, Lon Bacon, Gus Schaefer and Bill Scheulen."

He was born Jan. 21, 1877 near Linn, a son of Charles P. and Amelia Vaughan Bacon. On. Nov. 25, 1903, he was married to Voila M. Branson, who survives. Mr. Bacon was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Stigall, Linn; one son, Charles A. Bacon, Ferguson; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Green, Springfield, and Mrs.. Victory Pinet, Linn; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Friday, December 19, at the St. john's Methodist Church, Linn. The Rev. Glenn Mangam will officiate. Burial will be at the Linn Public Cemetery."

Funeral services were held for Jean Marie Monday, November 20, at the Bonnots Mill Catholic Church, with Rev. John Long officiating."

Busse, wife of Gustave Busse and daughter of the later Herman Sundermeyer and his wife, Frederica Arensmeyer Sundermeyer, was born on a farm near Chamois on the third day of December 1889, and departed this life after a lingering illness at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City on Saturday, November 18, 1967, reaching the age of 77 years., 11 months, and 15 days. Mrs. Busse was baptized and confirmed at the St. James United Church of Christ in Morrison and for some sixty years has been an active and faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois. On the thiry-first day of October 1917, she was united in marriage to Gustave Busse; they observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary just a few weeks ago. Mrs. Busse spent her entire life in the Chamois community, just a few miles from where she was born. Survivors besides her husband, Gustave, are one brother - Fred Sundermeyer of Chamois; three sisters, Lena Schowengerdt, Paulena Schowengerdt, and Hilda Beckmann. One brother, Rudolph preceded her in death. After resting at the Meyer Funeral Home in chamois, funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, November 20, at the St.John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Marvin Hockenhull officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery."

    3. Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1974: Henry M. Baker, 63, Cooper Hill, died Wednesday, August 21, 1974, when his tractor overturned on an Osage County road about 15 miles southeast of Linn. Mr. Baker was pulling onto the road from a private drive when a rear wheel on the tractor slipped into a ditch and the vehicle overturned on top of him. He was born Nov. 3, 1910, the son of Henry and Mary Owens Baker. He was a retired U. S. Army veteran. Survivors include: two brothers, Wiley Baker, Wheatland; and Oscar Baker, Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kyszewski and Mrs. Geneva Lammers, both of Jefferson City; and Mrs. Mayme Bronw (sp?), Kansas City. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Morton Chapel, Linn. Burial was in the College Hill Cemetery near Belle.?

Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Luebbert of Westphalia, and paternal grandmother is Mrs. Josepha Bock of Rich Fountain. Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Rich Fountain. Burial was in the parish cemetery."
