Obituary, Jefferson City, Missouri News/Post Tribune Obit: "Peter J Bax, 75, of Henley died Saturday, October 31, 1998 at Capital Region Medical Center - Madison in Jefferson City. He was born March 25, 1923 in Miller County to Pete and Mary Anne Lampe Bax. On February 8, 1947 he was married in Mary's Home to Veronica Evers, who survives at the home. Mr. Bax was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary's Home. He farmed in North Dakota and had worked on towboats on the Mississippi River. He later worked in construction and farmed for many years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World Wr II. Surviving him, in addition to his wife, are four sons, David Evers and Benny Bax, both of Mary's home, Richie Bax of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Donnie Bax, of Henley; two daughters, Ardis Ford of Lusk, Wyoming and Brenda Rowden of Iberia; 21 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Hart of Eldon. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven and infant twin daughters, Deborah and DeAnna. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Starrman officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Mary's Home."

He was born Sept. 28, 1947 in Babbtown, a son of Louis C. and Gertrude Johanna Voss Bax. He was married June 6, 1970 in Wichita Falls, TX, to Charlene Joy Maze, who survives at the home. An air force veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Mary's Home, where he taught CCD Classes for nine years. He worked as a truck driver for Genex in Jefferson City for more than 20 years. Other survivors include: 4 sons, Rocky Bax of Taos, Rodney Bax of Jefferson City and Ricky and Robby Bax, both of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Bax of Jefferson City; five sisters, Mary Ellen Kleffner, Bernice Redel, Lucille Schmitz and Laverne Rhodes, all of Jefferson City, and Lorraine Hoecker of St. Elizabeth, and one grandson. A graduate of Freeburg High School, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1971 as a chief petty officer after serving 20 years as a hospital corpsman in the submarine service. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin's VFW Post 35, Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5 and the Fleet Reserve Association. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Other survivors include: one son, James R. Bax of Kearney; one daughter, Beverly Jo Gefrath of Jefferson City; 2 brothers, Jewell Woodland of Jefferson City and Paul Woodland of Loveland, CO; 2 sisters, Allene Libbert of St. Martins, and Peg Weber of Jefferson City; 5 grandchildren,three step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. Mr. Green was born April 24 1889 in Maries County near Van Cleve, Missouri, the son of Elijah and Mary (Orrey) Green. He was united in marriage December 25, 1915 in Hoecker, Missouri by Rev. Joe Barnhart, to Tina Arizona Barton who survives of the home. Mr. Green lived several years in Kansas City, Missouri and Cuba, Missouri where he was employed by Koss Construction Company and Menefle Construction Company. He spent most of his life in the Miller County area where he was a construction worker and a farmer and was a member of the Humphrey's Creek Christian Church. Preceding him in death were: 3 children: Lloyd, age 2 months in June 1926, Mable, age 10 in 1930 and Mrs. Mildred Mitchell, age 27 in 1945; 2 brothers, Willie and Jimmy; 4 sisters, Bertha, Clardy, Lizzie Quinn, Mrs. Lula Wiles and Isabelle Miller and 1 grandson, Douglas Eugene Green at age 7 months on May 14, 1952. Surviving, other than his wife, Tina, are 5 sons: David Green of Tuscumbia, Floyd Green of Meta, Dewey, Donald and Marvin Green, all of Cahokla, Illinois; 2 daughters, Mrs. Joan Gushwa of Colstrip, Montana and Mrs. Marilyn Mauzy of Alton, Illinois; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at the Stevinson Chapel in St. Elizabeth with Rev. Mark Sooter officiating. Interment was in the Capps Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of St. Elizabeth. Obituary, mid-Missouri newspaper, 1967: William Groves of Chamois, Dies William Guy Groves was born at Isabelle Station, Missouri on August 5, 1896, being the son of James L. Groves and the former Mattie Braden. He departed this life at his home near Chamois, Missouri on September 7, 1967 after being ill for some time. At the time of his death, he was 71 years, one month and two days of age. He grew up in the Isabelle Station, Bonnots Mill area. He attended automotive schools in Kansas City, Missouri and Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Groves was in the garage business for a number of years at several locations in Chamois and Linn. In later years he lived in semi-retirement on a farm near Chamois. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was married to Rebecca Kemple on February 19, 1919. Two sons were born from this marriage being Connie J. Groves and Glenn W. Groves. Connie preceded his father in death. Mr. Groves was married to Margaret Bledsoe on January 20, 1942. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Groves, his son Glenn W. Groves and granddaughters of Fenton, Missouri, two stepsons, Herbert Bledsoe of Linn and Bill Bledsoe of Jefferson City, his brother Walter Groves of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his brother Arthur Groves of Fairland, Oklahoma, a sister Mrs. Nora Jacquin of Jefferson City and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Morton Funeral Home Chapel at Linn at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10 with the Rev. A. J. Grellner of Chamois officiating. Burial was at the Linn Public Cemetery.

Mrs. Griffith, nee Geiser, was born in Osage County, Missouri May 18, 1867. She was married to John B Griffith in the county of her birth December 22, 1887. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Edmond Perry of Linn, Mrs. A. C. Bastin of St. Louis; Harry E Griffith of Jefferson City; Harvey J. Griffith of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Clarence H. Bradley and Miss Iris of Jefferson City, Miss Olive of St. Louis, and Miss Loraine of Linn. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Thursday morning by the pastor, Rev. Walker.
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1046: Thomas Isaac Groff, lifelong resident of Osage County, died suddenly at his home near Belle Saturday (23 May 1946) afternoon. He was born at Summerfield March 18, 1872, the son of Ezra and Betty Goodman Groff. On December 27, 1894 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Mee and to them were born three children, two sons and a daughter. The sons died in infancy and the daughter, Beulah (Mrs. Lloys Eidenhour) survives. His wife preceded him in death four years ago. There are six grandchildren, Walter, Henry, Katherine, Donald, Mildred and Dorothy.

Those who paid their respects at Paul Blumer Funeral home were Walter Groose and family, Leonard Groose, Mrs. Roman Schulte and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Keller.
