Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1966: Louis Granaman Dies in Hospital Louis Lonzo Granaman, was born in Osage County in the Gascondy community on October 17, 1879, the son of Fritz Granaman and his wife, Minervia Branson Granaman, and passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City early Monday morning April 18 after a brief illness. At the time of his passing he was 86 years and 6 months of age. Mr. Granaman grew up in the Gascondy community and at an early age went to St. Louis to seek employment. He was in the Real Estate business until in 1958 when he retired and moved to a farm which he purchased near Morrison, and he remained there until his last illness. On March 27, 1937 he was united in marriage to Lucille Gray in St. Louis. She survives him together with two sisters, Mrs. Harrison Hutchinson of Vienna, and Mrs. William Collins of Union. He was a member of the Christian Church for many years. He lay in state at the Morton Chapel, Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon was taken directly to the Union Cemetery at Union, where burial was in the family plot. At the request of Mr. Granaman, made before his death no religious services were conducted either at the chapel or at the cemetery. The Pallbearers who served were: Eugene Schaefer, John Roach, George Lange and Ervin Lietzow.

Obituary for Clifford Grothe- mid-Missouri newspaper, issue: 11 January 1968 Grothe Services Held Funeral Services were held recently at the Immaculate Conception Church at Arnold, Missouri for Mr. Clifford Grothe, 35, who died suddenly. He is survived by his wife Catherine, and four children, Jean, Barbara, Joseph and Steven. Mrs. Grothe is the former Catherine Staggenborg, the granddaughter of the late Dr. John H. Nolte and Emily Nolte, and great granddaughter of the late Theodore and Julia Heinen. Among those attending the funeral of Mr. Grothe were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helmig and Mrs. Ida Hausmann of Loose Creek, Rev. Father Herbert Holterman of Mountain View, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Nolte, Mr. and Mrs. Fred LaMatte, Mr. and Mrs Joseph Beritz and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Tellman and daughter, all of St. Louis, and Mr. and Mrs. John Ochterbeck of Chesterfield.

    3. Obit., 1971 - mid-Missouri newspaper Louis T Gerling dies at age 70 Louis T Gerling, 70, of New Bloomfield, died Tuesday at a local hospital following a long illness. Mr. Gerling was born February 11, 1901, in Miller County, the son of Herman and Sophia Hollenbeck Gerling. He was married August 5, 1925 to the former Miss Veronica Bax, who survives. Mr. Gerling was a retired mechanic formerly employed by the Blackwell Garage, here for a number of years. Other survivors include: four sons, Edgar Gerling and Theodore Gerling, both of Jefferson City, Norbert Gerling, Antioch, California and Leroy Gerling, New Bloomfield. Six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Neeley, St. Martin's, Mrs. Norma Buckley, and Mrs Lucille Lock, both of O'Fallon, Mrs. Mildred Beauchamp, Mexico, Mrs. Marjorie Pefenengen, Jefferson City and Mrs. Mary Jane Lock, St. Peter's; 37 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, here, with the Rev. Father Short officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the Claypool Funeral Home, New Bloomfield

Death was attributed to heart trouble. Mrs. Morgan was born May 3, 1907, at Meta, the daughter of Conrad and Mary Kempker Rehagen. She was married in September, 1927, to Robert E. Morgan, who survives. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Sullens, Jefferson City; Mrs. Shirley Mulrenin, Monett; and Miss Delores Morgan and Miss Alice Morgan, both of the home; four sons, Stanley Morgan, Eugene: Donald Morgan, Jefferson City; Robert and Marshall Morgan, both of the home: and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Ladies of the Snow Catholic Church at Mary's Home and the Married Ladies Sodality of the parish.     3. [JC News Tribune, Thursday-02/15/1996] "Raymond John "Blackie" Libbert, 72, Centertown, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 1996) at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Meta, a son of Hubert H. and Florence Elizabeth Morgan Libbert. He was married July 20, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Allene Gertrude Woodland, who survives at the home. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received a Purple Heart. He owned and operated R. J. Libbert Construction County for 25 years until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church. Other survivors include: four daughters, Karen Rae Claus, Afton, Okla., Barbara Allene Wood, Eldon; Sheila Lou Kanipe, Tulsa, Okla., and Christina Marie Knehans, Gerald; four sons, Terry G. Libbert and Daryl D. Libbert, both of St. Martins, Melvin B. Libbert, Elston, and Marlin B. Libbert, Jefferson City; two sisters, Betty Bernskoetter, Jefferson City, and Judy Bruns, Chais; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martins Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery.     3. The following is the obituary of Henry Rehagen from THE META HERALD, (1-3), Jan. 24, 1935, Meta, Missouri: DEATH OF MR. HENRY REHAGEN The death of Mr. Henry Rehagen removed one of the pioneer citizens of Osage County as he had spent practically all of his life in this county. Despite his advanced age of 85 years, he was still active and enjoyed good health and was only ill one day before his death. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Huhmann and husband with whom he had made his home the past nineteen years. He was a man loved and respected by all and a faithful member of St. Cecelia church and died firm in his faith. Henry Rehagen, son of John and Angeline Rehagen, was born at Kries, Becin, Westfalen, Germany on January 14, 1850 and died at Meta, Missouri, on January 19, 1935, age 85 years and 5 days. Death was due to senility. Mr. Rehagen was two years of age when his parents emigrated to the United States and the located on a farm on the Little Maries in the Folk-Westphalia community where they resided the rest of their life, except for a short time they lived in Miller County. Mr. Rehagen was married to Miss Mary Schaller (sp??), of Osage County and they made their home on a farm near Rich Fountain for about twenty-five years at which place Mrs. Rehagen died. To this union were born thirteen children, eight of whom are living, namely: John of Meta, Conrad; Herman of Freeburg; Ben of Westphalia; Mrs. Angela Bax of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Mary Huhmann of Meta; Mrs. Francis Bax of Vigus, Missouri., and Mrs. Rosa Krieg of Rich Fountain. All of the children were present at the death, and funeral except Mrs. Angela Bax and Conrad. His wife and five children, Henry, Mary G., Joseph, Katherine and Frank preceded him in death. Mr. Rehagen was later married to Mrs. Mary Evers, nee Williams, of Folk and they resided on a farm near that place until Mrs. Rehagen's death in 1908. In 1909, Mr. Rehagen and two daughters, Mary and Katherine, moved to Meta. No children were born to this marriage. Besides his children, Mr. Rehagen is survived by 29 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one brother, Herman of St. Elizabeth; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Heimann of St. Elizabeth and one half-sister, Mrs. Mary Schulte of Brinktown, also a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at St. Cecelia Church on Monday, January 21, at 9 a.m., with Requiem High Mass by Rev. Father A. J. Hoegen and burial was in the Catholic Cemetery with funeral arrangements in charge of H. H. Strop, local undertaker. Pallbearers were his grandsons: Clements, Henry and Raymond Rehagen, Alphonse and Antone Krieg and Sylvester Bax. CARD OF THANKS: We wish to sincerely thank all the relatives, neighbors and friends who assisted us, or offered sympathy during the illness and death of our beloved father, HENRY REHAGEN.     3. Obit. in Missouri newspaper, Oct. 1977 "Funeral services were held Friday at Elm Grove, Wisconsin for Mrs. Anna A. Bax, 95, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and former Meta, Missouri resident. She died Wednesday at the Elm Row Nursing Home, Milwaukee, where she had lived for the past three years. She was born 25 Oct. 1881, at Rich Fountain, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Maria Schaland Rehagen. On Jan. 23, 1906, she was married at Meta to John Bernard Bax, who died in May 1963. After he marriage, Mrs. Bax lived in Meta, where her husband owned a blacksmith shop. In 1910, the family moved to Freeburg, Missouri where they owned the Bracket Manufacturing Company, which was destroyed by fire in 1917. In 1918, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Survivors include: One son, Victor Henry (Evelyn) Bax of Wauwatosa, Wis.; one daughter, Pauline Margaret (John) Kieweg of Slinger, Wis., nine grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Goggins in 1960, and a grandson, Donald Goggins who was killed in Korea in April, 1953. Services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elm Grove on September 30th, with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee." A requiem Mass was said for Angela at St. Mary's Catholic church, Elm Grove, Wisconsin on Sept. 30, 1977. Pall Bearers were James J. Bax, Thomas Goggins, Robert Kieweg, Corey Mooney, Kevin Mooney and Mark Stigler."

OBITUARY: Milwaukee Journal, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 28, 1963: Services for John Bernard Bax, 80 (died 27 May 1963) of 1269 North 123rd Street, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin., a retired shop foreman for the Phoenix Products Company, will be held Friday. The services will be held at 9:30 am at the J. H. Becker & Sons Funeral Home, 5330 W. Lisbon Ave., and at 10 am at St. Pius Catholic Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Bax was born August 2, 1882 in Koeltztown, Missouri, the son of Joseph Henry and Marie Caroline Wulff Bax. He moved to Meta, Missouri after his marriage in 1906 to Anna Angela Rehagen, who survives. He owned the Bracket Manufacturing company in Freeburg, Missouri from 1910 until it burned down in 1917. After that he moved his wife and three children to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Bax died after a heart attack on Monday, May 27, 1963 in St. Camillus Hospital in Wauwatosa. He had been with Phoenix Products Co., 4715 N. 27th Street, for 32 years before his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Angela; a son, Victor H. Bax of Wauwatosa and a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Kieweg of Slinger, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Goggins, in 1960, and a grandson, Donald Goggins, who was killed in Korea in April, 1953. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bax of Wauwatosa, Mrs. Pauline Kieweg of Slinger, Wisconsin.: further survived by 1 daughter-in-law, Evelyn; 1 son-in-law, John; 1 brother, Henry Bax of Texas; 3 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hagenhoff, Mrs. Mary Schmitz and Mrs. Jennie Hunt, all of Missouri; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.     3. Obituary, mid- Missouri newspaper, 1978: "Larry H. Rehagen, 26, Westphalia, died Sunday April 9, 1978, following a tractor accident. He was born July 16, 1951, the son of Tony and Bernadine Wankum Rehagen both of whom survive. He was married to Patricia Berhorst August 19, 1974 at Westphalia. She survives at the home along with three-year-old son, Craig. Larry was a 1970 graduate of Fatima High School and was self-employed. Mr. Rehagen was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Westphalia, the Holy Name Society and the Lion's Club. He was also a volunteer fireman. Other survivors include; four brothers, Richard Rehagen of Indianapolis, IN, Jerry Rehagen of Jefferson City, Kenneth Rehagen and Andrew Rehagen both of Westphalia; one sister, Linda Rehagen of Westphalia; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Louise Wankum of Meta. Services were held Wednesday morning at the St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Peter Walsh officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery." Larry Rehagen was driving a tractor north on Osage County Route 501, when the tractor overturned and pinned Rehagen underneath, crushing his body, according to the State Highway Patrol report. The accident occurred when the tractor's steering rod broke, the patrol said, causing the vehicle to hit the road embankment. He was pronounced dead at the scene."

Mr. Rehagen , a retired farmer, moved to Springfield 11 years ago. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Springfield. He was born July 6, 1879, the son of Henry and Mary Schallen (Sp??) Rehagen. Mr. Rehagen was married at Westphalia Oct. 24, 1905, to the former Miss Mary Schulte, who survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Henry Rehagen of St. Louis; Clem Rehagen of Granite City, Ill and Agathon (Tony) Rehagen of Westphalia. One daughter, Mrs. Loretta Becker of Springfield; one brother, Herman Rehagen of Freeburg; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Bax of Chesterfield, and Mrs. Angela Bax of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 14 grandchildren. The funeral Masses for Ben and Mary were at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Missouri, concelebrated by their three grandsons, the Reverend Donald, Reverend Harold Rehagen and Reverend Gerald Rehagen.     3. Obituary in Jefferson City News Tribune - November 1996 Alex Rehagen, 86, Rich Fountain, died Friday (15 Nov. 1996) at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Rich Fountain, a son of Herman and Mary Brune Rehagen. He was married Oct. 30, 1934, in Freeburg to Emma Elizabeth Ruder, who survives at the home. He was a truck driver for MFA Coop in Freeburg for over 35 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain and the Western Catholic Union for more than 50 years. Other survivors include: two sons, Francis P. Rehagen of O'Fallen, and Jerome H. Rehagen of Rich Fountain; three daughters, Mary Teresa Falter of Westphalia, Anne C. Falter of Freeburg, and Janet L. Waer of Jefferson City; one sister, Appolonia "Lonie" Wilde of Freeburg; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Services will be at am Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. the Rev. James Finder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A wake will be at 4 pm today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Masses are suggested, with envelopes at the funeral home.

He was born at Rich Fountain, Sept. 29, 1877, the son of Henry and Mary Schaland Rehagen. Mr. Rehagen was married Feb. 5, 1907 to Miss Mary Brune who preceded (him) in death. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Freeburg and the Married Men's Sodality. Survivors include: two sons, Alex Rehagen and Ray Rehagen, both of Freeburg; a daughter, Mrs. Alphonse Wilde of Freeburg; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Bax of St. Louis; and Mrs. Angela Bax of Milwaukee, Wisc.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.     3. Obituary from Mid- Missouri newspaper, December 1973: MR. MORGAN, HENLEY, DIES Stanley J. Morgan, St., 45, Henley died Sunday at his home (12 Dec. 1973). Mr. Morgan was born May 25, 1928 at Mary's Home, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Rehagen Morgan. On Oct. 28, 1950, he was married at Mary's Home to the former Rose Bax, who survives. A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Mary's Home, and a lifelong resident of the community. He was a carpenter. Other survivors include; Two sons, Michael Morgan of Russellville and Stanley J.
