Rehagen of St. Elizabeth, died at the age of 73 at Still Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City on Sunday (July 10, 1994). She was born in Meta, Missouri, the daughter of Ben and Anna Meiburger Scheulen. She was married Oct. 12, 1937 in St. Louis to George Rehagen who died Sept. 6, 1971. She had worked tor Ottenheimer Uniform Factory in Meta for 17 years, retiring in 1985. After that she operated a day care center in her home. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and of St. Ann's Sodality. Survivors include one son, Lawrence "Dick" Rehagen of Meta, two daughters, Marilyn Nilges of St. Elizabeth and Marjorie Herigon of St. Thomas; one sister, Mamie Wansing of Meta, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Bernard Rehagen, preceded her in death in 1951. Services were held Wednesday at St. Lawrence Church, with burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery, St. Elizabeth, Missouri."

    3. Monday, December 27, 1999- Jefferson City News Tribune "Ida Angela Rehagen, 98, Linn, died Dec. 26, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 12, 1901, in Linn, a daughter of Henry and Catherine Mengwasser Mertens. She was married Nov. 20, 1923, in Linn, to John C. Rehagen, who died Feb. 18, 1965. In 1980, she moved from Rich Fountain to Linn, where she was a member of St. George Parish. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Western-Catholic Union and St. Ann's Sodality, Rich Fountain. She was a homemaker. Survivors include: one son, George J. Rehagen, Osage Bend; three daughters, Henrietta Luecke, Popular Bluff, Agatha Maasen, Jefferson City, and Lucy Lamb, Independence; one sister, Lucy Schaefer, Linn; 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Elias Rehagen and Michael Rehagen, and two grandchildren preceded her in death. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain. The Rev. Sylvester Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Church or St. George Church."

He was born July 9, 1892, in Westphalia, the son of Chris and Clara Rehagen Schneider. He was married Nov. 12, 1919, in Koeltztown, to Cecilia Loehner, who died Feb. 2, 1968. A retired farmer, Mr. Schneider was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, the Married Men's Sodality, and was a charter member of American Legion Post No. 317, Freeburg. Survivors include: three sons, Bernard Schneider, Jefferson City, Raymond "Judge" Schneider, St. Louis, and Elmer Schneider, Freeburg; one sister, Martha Schneiders, Jefferson City; and eight grandchildren. A daughter, Albina McCormack, preceded him in death. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. The Rev. John Groner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born Aug. 3, 1911 at Osage County, a son of Herman and Mary Brune Rehagen. He was married March 23, 1974 at Jefferson City, to Bernadine Morton, who survives. A member of the Holy Name Catholic church, he was a former judge of Osage County. He was a livestock farmer and ASCS Agent until his retirement in 1983. Other survivors include; 2 step-sons, Jerald Morton and Richard Morton, both of Jefferson City; 2 step-daughters, Juanita Kunzler of St. Martins, West Indies and Doriles Shepard of Jefferson City; 1 brother, Alex Rehagen of Freeburg, and 1 sister, Lonnie Wilde of Freeburg. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. John Groner officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.     3. Obituary, mid-Missouri newspaper, 1978: "Larry H. Rehagen, 26, Westphalia, died Sunday April 9, 1978, following a tractor accident. He was born July 16, 1951, the son of Tony and Bernadine Wankum Rehagen both of whom survive. He was married to Patricia Berhorst August 19, 1974 at Westphalia. She survives at the home along with three-year-old son, Craig. Larry was a 1970 graduate of Fatima High School and was self-employed. Mr. Rehagen was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Westphalia, the Holy Name Society and the Lion's Club. He was also a volunteer fireman. Other survivors include; four brothers, Richard Rehagen of Indianapolis, IN, Jerry Rehagen of Jefferson City, Kenneth Rehagen and Andrew Rehagen both of Westphalia; one sister, Linda Rehagen of Westphalia; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Louise Wankum of Meta. Services were held Wednesday morning at the St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Peter Walsh officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery." (FYI- Larry Rehagen was driving a tractor north on Osage County Route 501, when the tractor overturned and pinned Rehagen underneath, crushing his body, according to the State Highway Patrol report. The accident occurred when the tractor's steering rod broke, the patrol said, causing the vehicle to hit the road embankment. Deceased had been connected with the Bank of Freeburg for 36 years; 27 of which he served as its president. Survivors beside the widow are 3 sons; Vincent J. of Jefferson City; William H. of Kansas City; and Paul H of the home; 3 daughters, Mrs. Edward Brandt of St. Louis; Mrs. Cornelius Loehner of Jefferson City and Miss Agnes of the home"

    3. Obit., 1977 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Joseph Plassmeyer, 93, of Westphalia, a resident of St. Joseph's Home here died there Tuesday. (November 22, 1977). Mr. Plassmeyer was born June 6, 1884, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Morfeld Plassmeyer. He was never married. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Westphalia, and the Holy Name society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He attended Winkelman School at the edge of his farm in Westphalia, and attended high school and college in Quincy, Ill. before being admitted to West Point, where he was graduated in 1901. He spent four years in the Philippines, returning as a Captain in the cavalry. He was in charge of the Remount Service. he served in the Army of occupation in Germany, and was promoted to Major on his return. He was then stationed at Fr. Riley, Kansas. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 30 years service, and during the Depression was in charge of construction of the CCC Camp at Roaring River. He was known as a charitable man, having given numerous scholarships to student at Fatima High School, Westphalia, and generous donation to the building of the chapel at West Point. The rosary will be recited Thursday at the Dulle Funeral Home, Westphalia. The funeral will be conducted Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Westphalia with the Rev. Peter Walsh officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations have been suggested to the St. Joseph's Home for the Aged."

Plassmeyer was recently declared killed in action by the U. S. Department of Defense. The Marine pilot had been listed as missing in action in Vietnam, after crashing on a night support mission on Sept. 1, 1970. He was a son of Paul and Monica Plassmeyer, Westphalia. His father survives. His wife Carol survives at the home. Other survivors include: one son, Bernard Plassmeyer of the home; three brothers, Lt. col. Martin L. Plassmeyer, Ft. Hood, Tex.; Norbert Plassmeyer, Westphalia, and Frederick Plassmeyer, Kansas City."

She was born at Frankenstein, Mo., on December 10th, 1869, the daughter of Michael and Margaret Mengwasser. On Feb. 6th, 1893, she was united in marriage to Henry Mertens, the first wedding to be performed in the new Frankenstein Catholic church. Their union was blessed with 3 sons and 3 daughters, they are: Michael, Stephen and Miss Agatha of the home near Linn; Mrs. John Schaefer, Jr., Bonnots Mill; and Mrs. John Rehagen of Linn. One son preceded her in death in 1919, as did her husband six years ago, July 6. She is survived by six grandchildren and 4 sisters, they are: Mrs. Hy Luecke, Rich Fountain; Mrs. Jos. Reichel, Freeburg; Mrs. Geo. Rudroff, Freeburg; and Sister Mary Lutgard, O. S. B. of Creston, Iowa. Mrs. Mertens was a member of the Married Ladies Sodality of St. George's Church. Funeral services were in charge of Morton Funeral Home of Linn. Her funeral was conducted last Friday morning from St. George's Catholic Church, Linn with the pastor, Rev. G. H. Schmidt officiating at the Requiem Mass. Burial was in the new parish cemetery. The pallbearers who served for the occasion were: Anton Rustemeyer, Gerard and Wm. Voss, George Rudroff, F. Riegel and A. Krieg."

He was born at Loose Creek, Feb. 17, 1865, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mertens. He was married 54 years ago to Miss Catherine Jaegers at Loose Creek, who survives. Other survivors are: Theresa (Mrs. Leo Lock) and Anna (Mrs. Martin Schaefer) and Amerial (Mrs. Bruce Stiesmeyer), all of Luystown and one son, Walter Mertens of Linn. He had been a member of the Frankenstein Catholic church."

The Deceased was born on Nov. 21, 1859. 55 years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Mengwasser. To this union were born 5 children; three sons and two daughters. The daughters died at the age of 6 months and 6 years. The surviving sons are: John Haller of Rich Fountain; Hy and Louis Haller of Freeburg; and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Alex Mackay, of Chicago. Mrs. Haller passed away on June 23, 1939. There are also the following to mourn his loss: 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Raab of Rich Fountain; one brother; Louis Haller of Rich Fountain; one sister-in-law, Mrs. John Dill of Vienna. Mr. Haller was a faithful member of the Married Men's Sodality. His funeral was held on April 19, from Holy Family Church at 9 am. Father Bernard Groner, the pastor officiating at the Requiem Mass. The Hallers resided near Rich Fountain until 1916, when they moved to a farm near Freeburg. We extend sympathy."

Mr. Grafe was born Jan. 22, 1897 at St. Thomas, a son of Henry and Anna Lueckenotto Grafe. On April 12, 1923, he was married at Koeltztown to Teresa M. Reinsch, who died Nov. 16, 1954. Mr. Grafe was an active farmer. He was a member of the St. Cecelia Catholic Church of Meta. Survivors include: one son, Raymond Grafe, Westphalia; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Jean Vaughan, and Mrs. Geraldine Eveler, both of Jefferson City; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Rackers and Miss Catherine Grafe, both of Kansas City; 15 grandchilden and 18 great-grandchildren. One son, Elmer J. Grafe, preceded him in death. He died May 2, 1973. Services were held Wednesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Meta, with the Rev. Donald Lammers officiating. Burial was in the St. Cecelia Church cemtery in Meta."

    3. Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977: "Gerhard Hilkemeyer, Sr., 97, of Westphalia, died Thursday evening (July 7, 1977) following a lingering illness. Mr. Hilkemeyer was born Sept. 23, 1879 at Westphalia, a son of Herman and Maria Westerman Hilkemeyer. He was married Oct. 18, 1905 at Westphalia, to Gertrude Luebbert, who survives. Mr. Hilkemeyer attended St. Joseph School, Westphalia, Linn High School and business school at Teutopolis, Ill.. He was active in both church and community affairs and served as Westphalia's town clerk for more than 40 years. Mr. Hilkemeyer was a catcher for the Westphalia baseball team during the 1890's and he managed a local team for a number of years. A member of the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Parish, Mr. Hilkemeyer was also a charter member, and past financial secretary, of Westphalia Council 1171, Knights of Columbus, and he was a member of the Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Assembly of Jefferson City. He owned and operated Hilkemeyer & Co., a general merchandise store at Westphalia from the 1900's until his retirement in 1954. Other survivors include: five sons - Inno Hilkemeyer and Gerhard Hilkemeyer, Jr., both of Westphalia; Alex Hilkemeyer, Tucson, Ariz.; Gilbert Hilkemeyer, Loose Creek; and Jerome Hilkemeyer, Jefferson City; three sisters, Sister Marie Hilkemeyer, Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, Springfield, Ill.; Mrs. Carye MacGregor, Irving, Tex.; and Mrs. L. C. Conine, Westphalia; two half-sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Grieb, St. Louis; and Mrs. Laurine Radmacher, Bonnots Mill; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.     3. Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1982: " Raymond B. Luebbert, 73, Jefferson City, died Wednesday (Jan. 6, 1982) at a Jefferson City hospital following a one-year illness. Mr. Luebbert was born September 11, 1908, at Meta, a son of Steve and Christine Schanzmeyer Luebbert. He was married July 3, 1934 at Meta to Clara Finke, who survives at the home. Mr. Luebbert lived in Jefferson City for 40 years and he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the FOE Eagles, No. 2693, and the United Transportation Union of Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 30 years prior to his retirement. Other survivors include: three sons, Raymond Luebbert, Lake Ozark; James Luebbert, Jefferson City; and Sam Luebbert, Holts Summit; two brothers, Henry Luebbert, Jefferson City and F. J. "Fritz" Luebbert, Meta; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Lock, Mrs. Florence Fischer and Mrs. Marie Bacon, all of Jefferson City, and Mrs. Dorothy Donehue, Enid, Okla; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were held Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Hartley officiating. Entombment was in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to the America Cancer Society."

    3. Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1980; "Mrs. Alma B. Buehler, 71, Jefferson City Manor, died Wednesday (Feb. 2, 1980) following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 13, 1908, at Freeburg, the daughter of Paul and Mary Luebbert Wegman. She was married Nov. 28, 1928, at St. Louis, to Frank G. Buehler, who died Jan. 20, 1968. Mrs. Buehler was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Survivors include: four sons, Donald Buehler, Springfield; Harold Buehler, Jefferson City; Kenneth Buehler, Enterprise, Ala.; and Gary Buehler, St. Charles; one brother, Fred Wegman, Freeburg; three sisters, Mrs. Wilma Becker, Manchester; Mrs. Mary Enright, Affton; and Mrs. Kathryn Willibrand, Freeburg; and 18 grandchildren. A prayer service was held Friday in the Duller Funeral Home. The funeral was held in Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Thomas Baughn officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
