Mrs. Brune, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Mertz, pioneer Osage county residents, resided in the Westphalia and Freeburg communities most of her life. She was a member of the Freeburg Catholic Church and the Married Ladies Sodality. She was born near Rich Fountain, June 9, 1858 and in 1880 was married to Peter Brune who died in 1932. She leaves eight children, Mrs. Herman Rehagen, Freeburg; Mrs. Henry Loehner, Koeltztown; Mrs. Stephen Holtermann, California state; Frank and John Brune of Dixon, Emil of Dodge, Nebraska; Henry of Freeburg and August of Westphalia. She is survived also by 36 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Frank Eisterhold of Rich Fountain, also survives. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from Holy Family church at Freeburg by her pastor Rev. Father Grone. Mr. Baumhoer had been in ill health the last three and one-half years. He was born Sept. 20, 1900 at Folk, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Weschi Baumhoer. On Oct. 27, 1936 at Folk, he was married to Martha Heckman, who died May 18, 1976. A retired farmer, Mr. Baumhoer was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Folk. Other survivors include: two sons, Franklin Baumhoer, Folk; and Roger Baumhoer, Holts Summit; three daughters, Mrs. Juliana Baier, Jefferson City; Patricia Baumhoer, Folk; and Mrs. Elenor (sp?) Laudzers, Holts Summit. He was born April 5, 1906, at Ryors, the son of Christholn Henry and Anna Nolte Busch. He was married Oct.. 20, 1934, to Laura Dena Horstmann,, who survives. Mr. Busch formerly served as deputy county clerk of Osage County. He was secretary of the Osage County chapter of Senior Citizens and was a past commander of Prince of Peace Knight Templers and past illustrious Master of Ezra Council No. 32 Royal and Select Masters, Jefferson City. He was a worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter no. 403, Linn, and was a past master of the Masonic Lodge No. 236. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Ryors, and served as a director of the church. He was associated with the U. S. Rents It before his retirement and also served as a school teacher in Osage County. Other survivors include: on brother, Henry W. Busch, St. Louis; one step-brother, Chas. Nunley, Cooper Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Rudolph, Owensville; and Mrs. Clara Linhardt, Chamois; one step-sister, Mrs. Dora Phelps, Scottsdale, Ariz. Easter Star rites were conducted Friday at the Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Church of Christ, Ryors, with the Rev. Wayne Kidwell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted at the gravesite."
Obit. mid- Missouri newspaper, 1972: "Lawrence Schulte, 63, of St. Thomas, died at noon Tuesday ( April 18, 1972) at a Jefferson City hospital following an illness of three months. A native of St. Thomas, Mr. Schulte was born October 25, 1908. On Sept. 24, 1940, at St. Elizabeth, he was married to the former Miss Regina Bax, who survives. Lawrence attended St. Thomas Parochial School. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas, Missouri and of the Holy Name Society. For several years he was self-employed. Then worked for Tierney Equipment Company and the Callaway Farmers Equipment Company. Other survivors include 2 sons, Stanley Schulte of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Larry Schulte of the home: 2 daughters, Miss Mary Ann Schulte of St. Louis and Miss Licinda Schulte of the home, and one grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Owens officiating. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in St. Thomas. The rosary will e recited Thursday at the Buescher Memorial Chapel in St. Thomas. "
Obit., 1971 - mid-Missouri newspaper: " Funeral services were held today at St. Lawrence Catholic church, St. Elizabeth, for Miss Melissa Hoecker, 20 month old daughter of Alfred and Lorraine Bax Hoecker, of St. Elizabeth. The Hoecker child died Tuesday ( Nov. 23, 1971) at a local hospital. The child was born Feb. 25, 1970 in Jefferson City. Other survivors include: two brothers, Curtis Hoecker and Bryan Hoecker of the home; a sister Miss Brenda Hoecker of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mr. Louis Bax, Westphalia. He was born June 14, 1901 near Van Cleve, the son of Harmon and Hestella Pendleton Barnhart. He was married Mar. 10. 1921 to Irena Woody, who survives. A retired farmer and stockman, Mr. Barnhart was a member of the Campground Christian Church near Meta and served on the church council for man years. He had also been employed at Ft. Leonard Wood and at the Missouri State Penitentiary. Other survivors include; one son, Wayne Barnhart, Waynesville; one brother, Euel Barnhart, Troy; one sister, Mrs. Laura McKee, Dixon; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Campground Christian Church near Meta. The Rev. Earl Jones and the Rev. Wayne Bogue officiated. The highway patrol reports that the 11:45 pm accident occurred when Busch's southbound motorcycle, traveling on Route U, near Linn just off Highway 50, ran off the right side of the road in a curve and struck a rock bluff. Obituary: Dennis E. Busch, 20, Hope, died Sunday morning, June 26, (1977) following a motorcycle accident on Highway U, just south of Linn. He was born June 17, 1957, at Jefferson City, the son of Elmer and Naomi Strate Busch. He attended Linn High School, graduating with the class of 1975. He attended Linn Tech graduating in 1976. He was employed by the Wolfe Const. Co. of Linn. Survivors include his parents, a sister, Mrs.. Judy Keeler of Jefferson City; two nephews; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strate of Morrison; and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Busch of Chamois. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob in 1969, and Tom in 1973, both resulting from drowning accidents. Services were held Tuesday at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Ryors. Since her husband's death, Mrs. Baumgartner had lived at Linn and Tulsa. Survivors include a son, Wm. Edward Baumgartner, Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren. Services were held Monday at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Rev. Ed Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977: " Nelson H. Boes, 60, of Jefferson City, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 5, (1977) at a hospital there. A native of Osage County, Mr. Boes was born April 8, 1917, the son of George and Anna Oidtman Boes. On Oct. 15, 192, at Mexico, he was married to the former Miss Opel Pemberton, who survives. A well-known Jefferson City realtor, Mr. Boes served on several board of realtor committees and served as multiple listing chairman in 1973. He was honored as Realtor of the Year in Jefferson City in 1973. Mr. Boes was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Dan C. Copin General Assembly, and Helias Council No. 54, Knights of Columbus. He was also a 28-year member of the Jefferson City Lions Club. Other survivors include: one son, Edward Boes, Holts Summit; four daughters, Mrs. Judy Shirley and Mrs. Joan Lindsey, both of Jefferson City; Mrs. Debra Kaiser, Midland, Mich.; and Miss Laura Boes of the home. One brother, William Boes; two sisters, Mrs. Norman Kraus and Mrs. Catherine Stokes, all of Jefferson City; and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Thursday at St. Josephs Cathedral with a concelebrated mass. Burial was in the Resurrection Cemetery."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1974: " Linn Man Killed in Auto Accident" " John W. Burton, 47, Linn, alone in his truck was killed and two women were injured in a two-vehicle accident in the Lake of the Ozarks area on Rte. HH Tuesday, April 9, 1974, The patrol said the accident occurred at 9 pm about 2.8 miles off Business Route 54 at the Lake. The Burton pickup ran off the road on the right side as it rounded a curve. Apparently over-correcting the steering, the patrol said, the pickup went across the highway, striking an approaching car occupied by two women. The truck then plunged down an embankment, coming to rest on its side. Injured were Mrs. Mildred Phillips of Eldon and Mrs.. betty Kirk, Osage Beach. Their condition was listed as good. Mr. Burton's body was transferred to the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City for services which were held Saturday, April 13. Officiating at the services was Rev. Sam Banquet. Burial was in the Oakhaven Cemetery at Hermann, Mo. Mr. Burton was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Audrain County, the son of Holly Gordon Burton and Beatrice Harris Burton. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Timmerberg Niederhelm of Linn; one son, Russell Burton of Montgomery City; one daughter of New Florence; two step-sons, Michael and Daniel Niederhelm, both of Linn; a sister, Mrs. Wm. Creel of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and one grandson. Mr. Burton had worked in the garage and trucking business most of his life. He was a former alderman on the New Florence City Council, a member of the American Legion and of the Methodist church."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977: " Harold Gaylord Boyce, 48, was born at Mint Hill, Sept. 4, 1924, the son of Joseph D. (Gaylord) and Katherine McGuire Boyce and died at Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, Kans., Wednesday morning, June 29, 1977, after a lengthy illness. He was never married and is survived by four brothers; Edwin Boyce, Springfield,; Chas. Boyce, Joplin; Norman Boyce, U. S. Air Force; and Marvin Boyce, Springfield; four sisters, Mary - Mrs. Myron McIntosh, Joplin; Evelyn - Mrs. Chester Sesata, St. Louis; Wilma - Mrs. J. D. Hogg, N. Carolina; and Norma - Mrs. Dewey Greenwell, Columbia. The Gaylord Boyce family will be remembered in the Linn community as they resided here for a number of years where the family grew up and attended the Linn schools. Mr. Boyce was employed by the Mo. State Highway Dept. until his death several years ago. His mother died unexpectedly in the hospital three years ago. After Harold graduated from Linn High School, he entered the Air Force. When he was discharged from the service he made his home in Kansas City where he was employed. The Mortons Service was called to remove his mortal remains from the VA Hospital in Leavenworth and arrange for services which had to be delayed until his brother who is serving with the Air Force arrived. The services were conducted at the Buescher Chapel in Jefferson City Friday with Rev. Michael Keith of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1936: "George W. Bradford died at his home at Linn early Saturday morning, Feb. 1, 1936. Mr. Bradford was born near Chamois March 26, 1856 and had attained the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 5 days. He was married to Miss Maggie Kurtz and to this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. They are Mrs. Harvey Selvidge, Bland; Miss Kizzy Bradford of home; and Miss Anna Bradford, Washington, Mo.; The sons are Fred and Harley of Syracuse, Nebraska; Dewey Bradford, Birch Tree, Mo.; and Sam of St. Louis."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1977: " Gerald F. Bolten Found Dead at Work" " Gerald F. Bolten, 49, St. Martins died Monday evening June 13, (1977) at the McGraw-Edison Plant in Jefferson City, while at work. Mr. Bolten was born Sept. 20, 1927, at Loose Creek, the son of Gerhard and Matilda Troesser Bolten. He was married July 8, 1972 at Dixon to Bonnie Fern Null, who survives at the home. Other survivors include; one son, Dwayne Scott Bolten of the home; two step-sons, Robert Lee Terry and Dwight Wayne Terry, both of the home; one daughter, Miss Rebecca Gail Bolten, of the home; one brother, Kenneth Bolten, Jefferson City; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Thomason, Kennett; and Mrs.Helen Schmitz, Loose Creek. Services were held Friday at the Morton Chapel, Linn, with Rev. James Routh officiating. Burial was in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon."
