The census also states NC. Sorry for the misreading your email on my part! Where did you find that I had put Jackson Co., AL as his birthplace. I want to correct that. In my notes, I have this: "Moved to Jackson County, AL until 1844 when his second wife, Elizabeth, having died in 1839 traveling by oxcart from AL to MO/AR line. Son, Jesse Madison Taylor, was known to have told this story, Jesse was 16 years of age when the move took place." Family tradition says the Taylor family came from Ireland in 1764. Listed: 1830 Census Jackson Co., Alabama, p.97 On August 12, 1833, John Taylor bought 80.06 acres of land in Jackson Co., AL. Document #4715. On August 5, 1837, he bought 40.01 acres of land in Jackson Co., AL. Document #8490. On August 1, 1839, he bought 40 acres of land in Jackson Co., AL.
