August was born Aug 1855 in Germany, Miranda Oct 1863 England, and their children, Annie C born Jan 1888 in California and Walter T. born Sep 1893 in California. Also living with them was Miranda's mother, Eugenia Jackson born Nov 1828 in England...she states in the census that only 5 of 9 children born to her were still living. Could be that Charles was gone by that time? Do you have a middle initial for him? Unfortunately Thompson is just common enough to cause some research issues.
