About every family group has one. Do you have some dates? My ggg-gf Gilbert Blankenship had 5 brothers that lived near him in Henderson Co TN. I'm sure more than I know of migrated to Oregon County from TN. I have transcribed the 1850 census for Henderson for Blankenships and there are several Johns that don't have a middle initial.

They came from Henderson Co. TN. I haven't proved it yet, but Louisa may be the sister of my gg-gf. In other words, a Blankenship brother/sister married a Phillips brother/sister. Another researcher has told me that Louisa's maiden name is Phillips. Unfortuantely unlike Oregon County, the Courthouse in Henderson County was burned down during the civil war and no marriage records exist prior to then. My gg-grandparents were married and living in their own household in 1850. John's father and 2 brothers lived in Henderson County.

I checked the 1860 Census and there are no John BLANKENSHIPS age 9 in the 1860 census [or even close in age as he should be]... There is a 2 yr old John C., son of John and Louisa J. BLANKENSHIP, but that's it in Oregon Co. I'd get on the area mailing list where people with resources of the surrounding counties including Oregon Co., MO are at. They will do lookups and you will be able to kill several birds with one stone. Lanita

Thank you Larry Wyatt for Celia Tate's address. I am seeking information on my Dad's side of the family. Both the Dickey side and Roy side lived in Oregon, Co., MO for many years. Starting in 1860-1880. They Roy family moved to AR before the 1880 census. I don't know if the Dickey parents moved to AR but the children were all found in AR on the 1900 census. My grandfather William Robert Dickey was married to Martha Ellen Roy in Boone Co., AR in 1900, just before the census was taken and living with them was brother Joseph A. Dickey. The four younger boys were living in to separate households with non relatives, at least as far as I know, in Lawrence Co., AR. The two oldest were born in Oregon Co. as they are on the 1880 census there. I don't know where the other four boys were born. Of course they were all born there if the family stayed there until 1896. My great grandfather John M. Dickey a miller by trade died in 1896 a couple of months after his youngest son's birth. My great grandmother Josephine C. nee Gaines Dickey died in 1899. I have not been able to locate their burial place. I don't even know in what state they died. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
