Was this the Thurman Henry that was the son of Aaron and Sarah Henry. If so, all I have on any of them is their names. I didn't know who his wife was. Toni
Sharron, Thanks for writing back. Are you connected to J. F. "Jeff" Highful that lived in West Plains until his death? He married Geraldene Henry. Geraldene's father Charley Henry was a first cousin to my husband's grandfather, Thomas "Tom" A. Roush. Tom and Charley were raised in the same household even though they were first cousins. Tom adopted and raised my husband so we have always felt close to them. Toni Roush Springfield, MO
Carlene, My husband's Great Aunt, Lydia Roush married Hubert Jones in 1925. Lydia was raised at Birch Tree/Thomasville area. I would think they probably were married there also. Lydia's brother was married at Birch Tree. I had never thought about it but now I am wondering who Hubert's parents were. Might you have any idea. Hubert was born in 1895 and died in 1965. They lived in West Plains. There son, Remal Jones was the Chief of police in West Plains. I would appreciate any information that you might be able to help me with. Toni Roush Springfield, MO.
Hi Melinda, My Joseph P. Jones was born in AR where his father moved from Oregon Co., MO. My direct Jones line is from John A. Jones (b. Jan. 28, 1848 MO; d. July 31, 1889 Oregon Co., MO) & Mary Elizabeth Dean (b. abt. 1842 TN; d. aft. 1894 Oregon Co., MO). In 1870 & 1880 they were in Birch Tree, Shannon Co., MO. Must have moved to Oregon Co. shortly after 1880 census. Both are buried at Cave Springs Cemetery just outside Alton, Oregon Co., MO. I'm thinking we probably have a connection here somewhere. I just can't figure it out at this point. We've never found anything on John A. Jones prior to 1870. Family lore is that he was full/part Osage Indian. This would certainly account for our not finding more on him prior to this date. Oral family history also holds that one of his daughters, Sarah L., lived on a reservation in OK in her later years. I've not yet had time to delve into this for possible records. If any of this sounds like we might have a connection, perhaps together we could find some answers. Carlene Missouri Ozarks

Jones was born 1852 and died 1890. The only reason I even have Joseph P. name was it was in a court record when John G. died and his kids whet to other family members on his wife side. Do you know if your Joseph P. Jones was born in Oregon Co. Mo.? have you try to look at the 1910 Census? It will narrow your search down for you. Do you know when & where he died? If so you could look at Obits. I hope this will help you. I will look through my jones stuff on thursday and let you know what I come up with. Just let me know If your Jones were in Oregon Co. Mo. I was wondering if anyone knows where an Elizabeth Vaughn might be buried at. She was in the 1860, and was dead 1870. The reason I say that is because her husband was married again in the Census of 1870. His name is Joseph not sure when he married but her frist name was Lavine. It says that they were married in July of 1870 on the Census. I would like to learn were Joseph might be buried at to. If anyone can help I would be greatful. Melinda Martin
