If someone had the book maybe they would be gracious enough to look it up but I do not know anyone who has it. Again, I want to thank you. God bless you. Kathy

The census also states NC. Sorry for the misreading your email on my part! Where did you find that I had put Jackson Co., AL as his birthplace. I want to correct that. In my notes, I have this: "Moved to Jackson County, AL until 1844 when his second wife, Elizabeth, having died in 1839 traveling by oxcart from AL to MO/AR line. Son, Jesse Madison Taylor, was known to have told this story, Jesse was 16 years of age when the move took place." Family tradition says the Taylor family came from Ireland in 1764. 3. My mom was raised in Wilderness, so I spent time with my grandparents down there in the summers. They are gone now, but the farm house is still down there and I've gotten to visit a couple of times in the last year - a true joy since I moved to Ohio 14 years ago. After I visited last October I came home with a renewed drive to get my SIMPSON family information organized and online. I had been sharing this site with the SIMPSON mailing list and family members, but I hadn't joined the Oregon County mailing list until now. My focus is specifically Oregon County Simpsons, and the related families - which is almost everyone since with so many SIMPSONs, someone had to marry one somewhere down the line. Anyhow, here is the site and if you are researching SIMPSONs or related families, I'd love to hear from you: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~woodside/simpson.htm The pictures, obituaries, and some of the family group sheets have been tremendously impacted by people like you that have sent me information. I've gotten some great pictures too. Denise Woodside Researching SIMPSON and MULLIS in Oregon County and WALTERS, SNIDER, RADER, and PERKINS in neighboring counties.

I know 1864 fits the census records for GW "Bill" Taylor for a birth date but I uncovered a cemetery inscription in Strangers Home AR which reads G W Taylor b11-19-1860 d10-22-1896. The reasons I like the looks of this stone in Broom Cemetery is because Bills daughter lived in Strangers Home. Thin stuff but I like the looks of this G W Taylor. Bill could very well have been born in 1860 based on sibling birthdates and may even have been a twin to Matilda who died before she was a yr old. Bill married Mary Simmons on 3-30-1884 in Oregon Co MO Book 3, page 105. Mary was married to Henry Camden in 1898 fitting well with the Strangers Home cemetery recorded death of Bill. Mary is found in the census after that as follows: 1910 Marion, Lawrence AR Henry ,Mary, Garfield, Melia, Stella 1920 Promisland Henry Camden Mary, Garfield, Zillie Murphy, Frank Kincade, Jewell Murphy I have a photo of Garfield and Mary, his mother. Zillie was my great grandmother (and daughter to GW and Mary) and Frank was my grandfather. Jewell was Franks half sister. Melia (Permelia) and Stella were Zillie's sisters. Garfield died 1969 in Strangers Home. Melia died in 1933 in Strangers Home. She was a Bellah by marriage, Sam Melton in the following census data was 2nd husband of Angeline Taylor, GW's sister. In fact, Pop's and Betsy's parents are buried at Walnut Grove Cem., and I have pics of their stones as well. I know now which book to send you, but I need your current info, or at least where you know you come in at... go to: www.lanitasloft.com and you will see pics of when we dedicated the Conf. stone for my Jesse. At the same time, we dedicated the Confed. stone for Tommy. They were both in the Fristoe's Regiment for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The unit fought as guerillas, hiding in the bushes and taking the enemy out... Let me see what I can find on your line, and will get back to you. 3. OK, I gotta ask. Do your Taylors go back to James Taylor, 1710, of Virginia? If so, add me to your "cousin" list! Or - I have another Taylor line from NJ/PA c 1822 (d St. Louis c 1900+).
