He is 12, and the son of Lee W. and Elsie WATSON. The History book tells of a bio on Grant and Susie WATSON. This Grant was a son of George Washington WATSON and Martha Ann BARRET. This Grant had a brother named Clarence, but no info on the siblings. There is a Clarence WATSON in 1930, in Texas Co., he's 28, single, and the son of Walter and N***tire WATSON. You might join the Oregon Co. HISTORY List since there are several Oregon Co. lifetime residents members there. William E. Gaines 37 years old was on the Randolph, AR 1860 with his wife Elizabeth R., daughters Mary E., Josephine C., sons John W., and Robert Gaines. I would also like to know William E. Gaines death date and if he had a probate. His daughter Josephine died in 1899. I don't know if she died in Oregon Co., MO or in AR. Her youngest son was only 4 years old in 1900 and he along with three of his other brothers were in Lawrence Co. AR in 1900. >From the 1870 Moore twp. Oregon Co. MO. census it appears that William E. Gaines and his second wife, Elizabeth Wells had two sons; Charles and Joseph. In 1880, all of the Gaines children from John on down were living in Moore twp. Oregon Co. MO. No parents were listed, so it looks like William was dead by then. I have found something that has gotten me very interested. I found a marriage in Randolph Co. AR. for William Gaines and Malinda Rider or Ridle dated 1873. Malinda Wells Riddle was the sister in law of Elizabeth Wells. William Gaines also married Elizabeth Wells in Randolph Co. AR. In 1880 all the younger children of Malinda and Francis Riddle were living with other families and listed as orphans. Could it be possible that Elizabeth Wells died and William married for a third time? Do you know the death date for William Gaines? Do you know if he had a probate? The maiden name of Elizabeth Wells was Honea. She was from the Jackson/Marshall Co. area in Alabama. Noreen
I was given what was suppose to be the information from a newspaper clipping, that my great grandpa, Samuel Soloman "Sol" Hurst died in Alton in Jan. 1900. Are there old newspapers or copies of articles from newspapers available? His father was George Hurst, the son of Samuel Hurst and unknown. Probably a Hudleston. His mother was Esther Emma Mayberry the daughter of Soloman Mayberry. Thank you Margaret

The South Central Missouri - North Central Arkansas Civil War Roundtable starts the New Year with a very special meeting this weekend. On Saturday, January 21, 2006, our group will meet from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in the Community Room of First Simmons Bank, Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, with author Rose Mary Lankford. Rose Mary will present a program about her book, "The Encyclopedia of Quantrill's Guerillas." In over 400 pages listing some 1100 persons associated with the man, Mrs. Lankford has compiled the most complete listing to date of the men who rode with Quantrill during the Civil War. Her book focuses upon the lives of these men, their families, personal characteristics and vital statistics. The book also lists battles and skirmishes in which they participated. She includes research on Quantrill's men before, during and after the War. Her book includes documentation of how both governments treated these men through their policies and General Orders. Rose Mary Lankford is also author of "The History of Evening Shade, the Place and Its People," and will have copies of both of these books for sale at the meeting. As always, you are invited to spend as much or as little time with us as your schedule permits. This is an informal meeting. If your interest is genealogy, historical research, artifact hunting or the Civil War in any part of the United States you will want to attend our meetings this year. There is no charge to be a member of our group.
