Hi, I have pictures of some Kings in the Wilderness cemetery. Yes one is Robert King. I have an interest in him because I think he is the same Robert King that married my Grand Parents and also was executor of my GreatGrand fathers estate. If you would like me to E-Mail you any pictures just let me know. Happy Hunting! Dewey Thompson [email protected]

That cemetery is well cared for, so doubt the stone is overgrown. I pictures of relatives in that cemetery, but not of any KINGs. Sorry to jump in the middle of your conversation, Ginger & Becky. I was just trying to help! Denise

I don't know of any branches in Missouri, but it is possible that some went that way. Judy

There does not appear to be a connection with the Burns in my line. BTW the name McGinnis has a multitude of alternative spellings including ties to the Guinness family of brewery fame. Abraham McGinnis was a miller in Wayne County, MO, and there is an Obadiah McGinnis who married the widow Jane (McGee) Johnson about 1830 and lived in Wayne and Stoddard counties.

My Judy Burns Yates was also born in Kentucky (1829), as were most of her 11 siblings. She had a brother Archibald M. Burns. His wife was Sarah --?--. Archibald and Sarah's son was Archy, but I don't know who his wife was. An Archie Burns married Etta Williams, 25 August 1904 in Shannon County, MO. I suspect it was the son. One of them could have married / also married a Skidmore. Judy and Archibald's father Littleberry Burns (various spellings and also Berry) was said to have been born a Crain or Crane, but took his stepfather's name. I don't know anything about his siblings. Littleberry was born in Virginia. Does any of that ring a bell? Judy

My >line is Littleberry Burns . . . My Burns line begins in 1814 in the Territory of Missouri with the marriage of Noble Johnson and Jane Burns. So far the evidence regarding Jane Burns is that she was born in KY circa 1795 and her parents were in New Madrid by 1803. Thereafter they settled in Cape Girardeau County on Hubble Creek and prior to 1820 relocated to the area of Apple Creek which later became part of Perry County, MO. Until 1824 the waters of Apple Creek was the location of a large Shawnee settlement which included some Delawares. There does not appear to be a connection with your Burns ancestors based on what we presently know, but never say never when it comes to family history. By chance I am wondering whether your Burns line includes an Archie Burns who married a Skidmore girl. John

J. Eads Dies Sunday Morning At Age of 73 After a lingering illness A. J. Eads passed away at his home in this city Sunday evening at 7:15. Andrew Jackson, son of Lewis and Pollyanna Eads was born at Bloomington, IN on July 26, 1860. He departed this life March 18, 1934 at his home in Oakland, being 73 years, 7 months and 21 days of age. When a young man about 18 years old, he came to Oakland, IL, working for several years as a farm hand. On Dec. 16, 1886 he was married to Lucinda Jane Curtis of Oakland. By this time he had saved enough money to purchase a farm and on this farm he and his wife started their home. Here all their lives have been lived with the exception of one year which they spent in Oakland seventeen years ago and the last two years which also have been spent in Oakland. He seemed to love every hill and tree on their little farm. No place has been home to Mr Eads except this farm and it was his greatest desire to move back to it. It was here that his children were born and grew up, three boys and one girl, namely, Charles A. of Oakland, Willis R. of Milwaukee, Wis., Ernest H. of Oakland, and Mabel M. of Chicago. There are also nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. These with the wife are left to mourn the loss of husband, father and grandfather who has been a hard working man and an honorable and upright citizen. What better heritage could he leave his children? Mr Eads was converted about 23 years ago and united with the Fairview M. E. church to which he has been loyal. Mr Eads has been in poor health for several years and for the last seven weeks has been confined to his home and bed part of the time. last Friday he suffered a complete relapse and left us on Sunday eve. going to be with his Savior "who giveth his beloved sleep." Funeral services were conducted from the Fairview church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Montague officiating. Pallbearers were John Dollar, James Dollar, Art Kincade, Wm. Kincade, Sterl Hanner, Chas. Swinford. Mrs Leta Hawkins was at the piano. The choir of the Fairview church sang. Flowers were in charge of Mrs Ida Dollar, Mrs Mamie Shives and Mrs Vera Swinford. ------------------ 1918 Farmer's Directory Listed with wife's maiden name and names of children -- Oakland Messenger Newspaper Articles Oakland IL 8/7/1930 Miss Mabel Eads of Chicago visits parents, Mr and Mrs AJ Eads

I really appreciate it so much. I am so convinced that you should write a book on this family. You do a wonderful job at writing ! I was so touched by what you wrote on Elizabeth Cato Johnson. She is my3rd great grandmother. i live in So. California, and some day I am going to go up north and see her grave ! I have wondered for so long , why I never heard of any of our family coming to California. It seems that all I ever heard was that they settled in Madison County, Missouri . Sure is nice to know that some of them came out my way ! Again, thank you so much ! Susan

Although they are the great grandchildren of Elizabeth Cato and her husband Davis Johnson, I have responded by posting on this board because the family of Reverend David D. Johnson lived for many years in Oregon County, MO, and David and his wife Nancy as well as many of their relatives are buried at Cave Springs Cemetery. Following the Civil War the family is enumerated in 1870 in Reynolds County living close to his brother Needham Johnson, in 1880 in Birch Tree Township of Shannon County, and in 1900 in Piney Township of Oregon County. His brother Joseph Johnson and his wife Amelia "Millie" (sometimes Emily) Frizzell are also buried at Cave Springs Cemetery.
