Hi, I don't mean to interrupt, but I am related to the Smith's that you mentioned. Delphia is my Grand Mother and Christine is the eldest daughter of Dephia, she died as a baby. Vern O. Is the son of Delphia. I do know this cemetery very well. So maybe I can help you in your search. Just ask and I ll try my best. Does anyone know if there is a transcription online of those buried in the Powell Cemetery in Oregon County? If there is a transcription of that cemetery and it is not online, would I write to the Oregon County G & H Society to get a copy? I've read that it was located on the original Peter R. Simpson land, but was later owned by a Mr. Joe Minich. Does anyone know who presently owns the land it is located on, and/or who to contact to visit the cemetery? I've read that it is isolated and overgrown. Does anyone know of the present condition? Many thanks for any information. Gloria

Hi everyone, just joined the list. I just found a death certificate for Charley Lock and if the information that was reported on it is correct, he would almost have to be a part of my Lock(e) line. Charley Lock b. February 24, 1832 in Wayne County, Illinois, d. April 15, 1910 in Oregon County, Missouri Death certificate states, Parents unknown. Mary Milsap was the informant for the vital information for the death certificate. I have no clue who she is or if she is related to Charley Lock. Is she a possible daughter of Charley? I think I know who his parents were! There was only 1 Lock family in Wayne County, Illinios in the 1830's, all descendants of James Lock. James Lock had 2 known sons, Richard H. Lock and Samuel Teter Lock. In the 1840 Wayne County, Illinois census it states Richard H. Lock had 4 sons at home, but I can only account for 2 of the 4 son's names, John Thomas Lock and James B. Lock. I believe Charley Lock to be 1 of the unknown sons of Richard H. Lock! If Charley Lock is who I think he is, he wasn't alone in Missouri, he had many Lock cousins all over Missouri. Anyone know anything about Charley "Charles?" Lock? I only learned about Charley last night, so my search has just started :) Thanks! Donald Locke http://home.comcast.net/~lockeroots/home.html

February 24, 1832 in Wayne County, Illinois, d. April 15, 1910 in Oregon County, Missouri In Charley's death certificate, Mary Milsap was the informant giving the vital information. There was only 1 Lock family in Wayne County Illinois in the 1830's , all descendants of James Lock and his 2 sons Richard H. Lock and Samuel Teter Lock. This is only if Mary Milsap reported his birth place correctly, but if she was correct in stating he was born in Wayne County Illinois, then I believe this to be a very high chance Charley Lock is the son of Richard H. Lock. And Charley Lock living in Missouri only makes since because there were quite a lot of Lock cousins living all over Missouri. Richard Lock III, uncle of Richard H. Lock moved from Wayne County Illinois to Barry County Missouri early 1800's and spread out from there. Any help on Charley "Charles?" Lock would be appreciated. Thanks Donald Locke
