    3. I wanted to share that the Shannon County site has a number of obituaries posted. Many of the obituaries are from The Current Wave, and a few end up being residents of surrounding counties. If you haven't already checked these out, you might want to. I've also added a tool for researchers to add their own obituaries for Shannon County residents. So if you have any, I'd love to have them added to the group! I'll try to put something together like this for Oregon County. 3. This plat book is great! Thanks Elaine. What are the numbered squares called? Districts? Plats? http://digital.library.umsystem.edu/cgi/i/image/image-idx?c=platic Click on "Browse all images" and select Oregon. I have several questions about (relatives of) landowners on the Oregon County, T. 23N. R.3W. map who were mentioned in an 1889 divorce record: Can anyone tell me about Chas. Tarlton in Johnson Twp, #22 and D.A. Tarleton in Jobe Twp #34? How about J.A. McElmerry in Pine Twp, #17 or the various Woods families? My known connections to Oregon County ended around 1910, but these are names that possibly link to my g-grandparents, Josephus Moore and Mary Lucinda Haws / Haus. They were divorcing in 1889. Lanita found this divorce record: [B.2F.175 [box & file] MOORE, M. L. v MOORE, J. S. Divorce 1889 Affidavit 19 Mar 1889: Couple married 31 Jun 1886 Oregon Co., MO; separated 25 Dec 1887; Mary charges Josephus with neglect and seizure of possessions; requests alimony and immediate support in the amount of $150; Petition for Divorce: filed 22 Mar 1889 Attachment: for seizure of possessions in amount of $150 22 Mar 1889; Mary states Josephus is planning to abscond from domicile and leave the state 22 Mar 1889: Mary, along with E. Cal Smith, David Tarlton, Henry Tarlton; served 28 Mar 1889.] I suspect that Josephus's mother may have been Elizabeth "Betsy" McElmurry, daughter of Andrew McElmurry, Carter County residents during the Civil War. Betsy was married to a Woods before she married a Josephus Moore in 1861. He was apparently also called Si or Silas. Anyway, I found all of these names on the plat map. Who were E.D. Roberts, J.C. and W.J. Thomasson, J. Cal Smith, David and Henry Tarlton named in the 1889 divorce record? Sorry for being long-winded, but I thought the divorce record might help to ring a bell for someone. Thanks for your help. 3. If you have GPS, the cooridnates are: 365310N 0913407W From Thomasville, go north on SH 99 for about 5 miles, turn left on SH "T". Go for about 3.5 miles and turn right on CR 441. It's on the left side of the road about 3/4 miles. The directions in the cemetery book vary slightly. They say go 3 miles north form Thomasville, but the rest matches. There are 15 Ledbetters other than Martha buried there. Gene At 08:57 AM 2/9/2007, you wrote: >Dear List, > >I am trying to locate info on Martha Jane (Dunham) Ledbetter. Description: Located in section 35 in Black Pond Township. Citation: Personal interview or telephone call. Detail field contains name, title, and affiliation of interviewee if known. 2004/site visit And this may help you. This is a website where you can access Missouri county plat books. http://digital.library.umsystem.edu/cgi/i/image/image-idx?c=platic Click on "Browse all images" and select Oregon. Or for the portion of Oregon county that is yours copy/paste all of this address http://digital.library.umsystem.edu/cgi/i/image/image-idx?sid=9b7ae0f0022961140443dc4563d96987;med=1;q1=platic;rgn1=platic_all;c=platic;evl=full-image;quality=2;view=entry;subview=detail;lasttype=boolean;cc=platic;entryid=x-63;viewid=PLA-OREGON-18.TIF;start=1;resnum=72 and you should find Section 35 and also some of your Ledbetters. Looks like there were Ledbetters on the county line. And since they are so close to Howell county you might check that one also. My father lived in Oregon County from about 1910 until he married in 1926... but I have never been there. So this is the best I can do for you.
