"Barney" age 84, passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at Hospice of Dayton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ethel Koogler; wife, Margaret Harney, and step-son, Herman Harney. Barney is survived by his step daughters, Janet Ballard, Linda (Arnold) Russell, Brenda (Gary) Jones; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; fiancee, Ruth Crothers and family, and many VFW friends. He was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Army and a Prisoner of War, earning the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation with 1 bronze star, the Good Conduct Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and 2 Purple Hearts. Barney was a life long member of the VFW Post 9927 and retired from WPAFB after 40 years. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday, June 29, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm Friday at the funeral home.
