In the past, before the neighborhood became as scary as it is today, a lady who lived on Alwildy St would unlock the gate for us. We discovered she was a grandmother of a boy I knew in grade school! She has probably passed away by now. Such a shame a cemetery is inaccessible to visitors except for one day a year! I remember the cannon. On Decoration Day there was always a ceremony in the cemetery. My two brothers were Boy Scouts and their troop was the Honor Guard. The ceremony took place by the cannon. This is the area where the Walthers lived so probably some of them are buried there. I remember large monuments with the name of Nicholas on them. The large dark brick house (at least it seemed large when I was little) across from the cemetery was the Leslie/Walther home.
