Hi - I am new to this list.? I was just reading about the link to the obituarys which I checked and found one of my relatives. I missed what is the next step.? Do we send our request via e-mail at the library websit or send it to a specific person? My great great grandfather, James Bracy Oliver, moved alone to Dayton about 1809 when he was in his late 20's..? One county history says he came from Augusta County Va.? Other sources say he came from PA.? I have researched his children through the census thinking they would write where he was form.?? They listed different things, VA, PA and even Kentucky.? This has been my brick wall for years.? He lived from 1781to 1846 and married Mary Hardman in 1810 and had 11 children.? When I checked the obituary page, it is for one of his daughters, Rita who married Gorton Arnold.?? I am hoping it might make mention of her father.? There was quite a bit written about him in Pioneer Life in Dayton which is one that says he came from Augusta County VA.??? I am not sure how I can confirm this without know his parents names but I have never been able to find a record of his there. I did go to the Dayton library several years ago as I found his grandson, James Oliver Arnold, left papers to the library which proved to be a great help.? No clue was to where he was from but there was a bit written about that his father and grandfather traveled to Illinois to visit James Bracy Olivers brother.? Then another entry about P.M. Oliver in Shelbyville County which I figured to be Pleasant M. Oliver.? I was able to correspond with descendants of Pleasant but they had not been able to find out anything either.? Thanks so much.
