Hello, I have been 'listening' here for about a month now. My grandfather (Robert) Lemuel Evans (b1869) moved from Shenandoah County, Virginia to Dayton when he was a young boy - sometime after 1880. It is believed he had a brother living in Dayton. I have found Lemuel Evans and his wife Christina O (Jenkins) (b1876) in the 1900 census living in the 6th ward; house number 242 on Homested Street. Lemuel worked for Dayton Last Works and moved within a couple years to Michigan where the Dayton Last Works was building a new plant. On nearby Mound Street are a Joseph (b1851) and Isabel Evans (b1855) with children Charles E (1883), William H (1880), Annie S (1890), Harry D (1892), and Lemuel N (1899). The state of birth for both Joseph and Isabel is Virginia. Lemuel had an older brother named Joseph William (or William Joseph) (c1953) so I suspect this may be the brother Lemuel Evans went to live with.
