"Fuzzy" Franz, Jr., 82, of Kettering, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at his home. He was born on February 28, 1925, the son of Marion and Dorothy (Steinbarger) Franz. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom Franz; and brother, Forest Franz. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rita D. Franz; daughters, Connie Chambers (David Hughes) of Centerville and Dorothy (Nick) Chaconas of Olney, Maryland; son, Mike Franz of Kettering; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Violet Stephenson of Beavercreek; and many other relatives. Mr. Franz was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where his bravery during World War II earned him four Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. After the war, he became a Millwright, worked for Oxford Paper Co. and later retired from General Motors. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
