Some people who have subscribed to this list for a long time will remember that this is not the first time we have seen a "flurry of obits" from this same individual. Previously, I had offered to upload obituaries for this person to the Montgomery County genealogical society's web site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohmontgs/obitlist.html. My offer was declined because it was stated that our web site was not the appropriate venue for such a project. In fact, I am in the process right now of updating our files and will have over 200 new obituaries, mostly from the late 1800-early 1900 time frame ready to upload to the web site within the next few days. My door is always open to people who want to contribute any materials related to genealogy. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me. Lets just move on and get back to our genealogy...tell us about your brick walls in Montgomery County, ask questions, submit your surname lists. There are lots of us willing and able to help. Hi Carolyn, I think the website is actually a better place for them then this list. I've tried to find things in the archives of rootsweb and it's not particularly easy. I know of a lot of county genealogical websites that include obituaries, in fact I just sent in a number of obituaries to the Gallia CGS site earlier this month. > In fact, I am in the process right now of updating our files and will have > over 200 new obituaries, mostly from the late 1800-early 1900 time frame > ready to upload to the web site within the next few days. If my ancestors aren't included in this batch, I'll get them typed up and sent direct to you. :-) > Lets just move on and get back to our genealogy...tell us about your brick > walls in Montgomery County, ask questions, submit your surname lists. > There > are lots of us willing and able to help. You are one of a great group of people who've helped me to knock down the unfindables. And thanks to all your hard work I've been able to join First Families of Ohio, Settlers and Builders of Ohio, and Society of Civil War Soldiers of Ohio. I'm currently working on my Barney, Stevens, Rowe family history that I hope to publish this fall, or next spring at the latest. And if you guys ever get a S&B going in Montgomery County I'll be the first to join! :-) Thanks to everyone, and particularly to the certain few (you know who you are) who've helped me over the last several years! BTW, you are correct. The Dayton History Books site is absolutely wonderful, and it's searchable! I have sent some of my stuff to the site several years ago. And Woodland's site is great as well. Keep up the good work! Linda Trent lindatrent@zoomnet.net
Dear Carolyn, I can't thank you enough for posting the www.rootsweb.com/@ohmontgs/obitlist.html. I was able to locate my maternal g-grandfather, Russel E. DAVISON listed with obit details. What a find for me! Geno happy dance! I appreciate your posting! I will continue to review the obits at this website for more finds!
