    3. Jim, There is a cemetery listing for him but no tombstone to take a picture of. The church cemetery where he is buried had the stones removed some time ago. Contact the Dayton Metro Library in downtown Dayton and ask them to copy the page out of the cemetery book I wrote on Jackson township. Or contact me privately and you can purchase a copy of the book. Jacob Smith lived out in the western portions of the township in 1851 according to tax records. According to my records he may have orginally bought the land from Daniel Hoops according to what I am seeing on my township map and the preiously referenced 1851 tax duplicate for the township. I do not find him in my 1827 or 1830 digitized tax duplicates for the county. He was living in Jackson township in my transcribed 1840 census, but in a different portion of the township. From what I am seeing in studying the 1850 census, and taking notice of the neighbors, it may be that he came from Maryland in about 1836 or so as an already married young man with several other Smiths. In 1840 he only had one child. But by 1850 he now has a second wife and several children by his first wife. From other information, not herein mentioned, I would suspect that the children listed in the 1850 census enumeration are from his first wife. There are several Jacob Smith estates, all of them with wills, but without pulling them I can not determine if one may be your guy or not. I do not pull wills or estates without prior arrangements.
