Dear Peggy: Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and a number of other libraries such as the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County have purchased from the Ohio Historical Society microfilm of death certificates. These cover only 1908-1953 or 1954. They will not cover 1959. After 1953 or 1954 (sorry, I forget which year it is) they are considered active vital records and only official certified versions are available. You can get a certified copy from Montgomery County Vital Statistics or the Ohio Department of Health. It costs $16.50 - $18.50 depending on the source. You might be able to get it for 25 cents from the Rutherford B. Hayes museum in Northern Ohio, although I'm not certain that they cover that year.
