Hartley. She was born on 22 Feb 1839 in Montgomery County, Ohio and died 20 Feb 1923 in Montgomery County, Ohio. We have found her Death Certificate and all of the information on it matches our family knowledge. So far we have managed to find her (spelled Friback in the census) as far back as the 1850 Fed. Census in Montgomery Co. Ohio as a 9 y/o living with Enoch Powell & Ellenor Powell. Also in that household is a William Friback (sp), 11 y/o, who we presume is likely her brother. Because Louisa & William were so young and living in the home of someone with a different surname, we also presume that their parents might have died and that they were taken up by the Powells. We know that Enoch Powell was from Pennsylvania, according to the 1850 Fed. Census but we cannot figure out if he was a relative of theirs or not. We have been told that the surname Powell is a well-established Quaker name in Ohio, if that helps anyone. In the 1870 Fed. Census she shows up at age 27 in Piqua, Miami, Ohio living with Lewis & Elizabeth Manning. We cannot find information as to who Louisa's parents were and would like to add that information to our tree. I'm guessing that many of you out there are better sleuths that we are and we appreciate any clues that you might run across. We're including a picture in case anyone has Louisa in their tree. Thanks! Carol Carter & family Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
