I do not know if Bertha had any siblings who may have been a parent to Albert, but finf it interesting that yours ended up in Yakima. From what my dad tells me William and Bertha (don't know where they met or were married - just that he was born in Ohio and she in Germany) loived in Great Falls, MT until my grandfather was about 17-18 (1923) then oved to Kalispell for a few years, then Seattle, then Portland. By 1930 they were in Eugene, Oregon (although they were still in the Great Falls phone book in 1931...)per census living with my grandparents. I have just started delving in on this side of the family due to the fact that William and Bertha adopted my grandfather, who they named James Rossow Ward. I cannot place them after the 1930 census (obviously) but know they both died in Portland. Am going to try and get death records this week. It would be neat if there was a link! 1. [MONTGOMERY_CO_OH] Jacob Downey/Harshmanville/Riverside/Montgomery Co. OH
    2. I have a question. In researching the new city of Riverside, Ohio, where my son is "thinking" of looking for a starter home, I looked in my 1875 Montgomery Co. Atlas. I got so confused. I thought that Jacob Downey (who I have been trying to connect to my John Downey of 1803 Greene Co. OH) lived in Harshmanville (Riverside??) during most of the 1850 on and even today there is a Downey presence in the area. But on the map of 1875, J. Downey is on the upper side of the river. I was bragging to my son about Jacob and as usual trying to stimulate some interest in Genealogy in at least one of my children - didn't work as all he could see in the Atlas were the horses in the pictures! Another question. The northern area that new 35 cuts through - bordered by Woodman drive on the West and Spinning Rd. on the East and freeway 35 on south is called what ?? back in 1875. We drove over there on Spinning last week and got lost because the United Brethren church is gone. I swear that the more modern unit which is now a church is not the building that was there before. Another question. There is a creek running through that area which I also can't identify. If this were Preble or Greene Co. I would know where to look in my material but I seem to be lacking in my knowledge of Montgomery. Shame on my but maybe someone out there could help me????
