    2. The Walthers are in the 1930 census. In Harrison twp then. Father's name was George. Had a very large family. There were more children after these as Fred (the last one I think) went to Fairmont ahead of me. The family home then was on David Rd west of Far Hills (or before that called Dayton Lebanon Pike). I believe it still stands. I'm not sure which son was Salt's father. He actually drove Indy Cars to be specific. In 1973, he was involved in a fiery wreck at Indianapolis 500 when he got into the catch fence, and then the car cut in half and his legs were sticking out of the tub while the rest of the car was on fire. This was also the David Earl "Swede" Savage, Jr., was killed at the Indianapolis 500. I will be at my parents tomorrow and plan to look at the book. In pretty bad shape, actually full of signatures, my mom thinks from the other members he served with. Am going to try to get ot copied by someone who can hadle it properly (will check with the Oregon Historical Society). Yay! My mother found the book! It's in pretty rough shape, but still in our posession - thank god - she donated something a few months back to an hisotrical socirty at the coast in Oregon, before I could copy the family notes off the back - could have killed her! I also got Bertha's death cert. today. Listed her parents as Christian Russow (lots of typos on this thing!) and Mary Jacobson. She was a widow, so William died between 1930 and 1948. She was shipped back for burial in Great Falls, however. I am going to contact the funeral home casue I figure William in there too, then I can get a death date and get his death cert. from the state and this should all lead me back to J.E.D.! Yay!!!
