    1. [MONTGOMERY_CO_OH] Simpson/John Littell/LindsayM.Brien
    2. I just received my copy of Miami Valley, Ohio - A Genealogical Index of Pioneers by Lindsay M. Brien. On page 181 under heading Simpson, from First Settlers of Passaic Valley: by John Littell, she has edited and copied the information about the Simpsons. My question is if the information there and in Littell's book, about John Simpson and his 11 children is correct? If a sentence is not included, should I read significance into that omission? Brien left out a very informative sentence of Littell's (in my life it was important) which is: "Moses Badgley had by his first 1. Benjamin, who married Miss Street; 2, Sally married Ephraim Simpson". She picks up Sally marrying Ephraim down the list under 10 Simpson issue: "Ephraim m Sally Badgley. (dau. of Moses)". But she doesn't put Benjamin and Miss Street anywhere. I check the index under Street and it is not there. I guess I am thinking that this might be a Littell error? I know that the Settlers book has had some errors (many??), but this is the first that I have wondered about. It just seemed odd to me. I have used the Littell book as a 2nd source for the Badgley/Street marriage along with the marriage notation from Butler Co. Oh. of 1813. Thank you for any thoughts and response. 1. [MONTGOMERY_CO_OH] Recovered tombstones
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Vince_Koers Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.montgomery/4437/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello List A cache of old tombstones has recently been recovered from a river north of Indianapolis, where the stones apparently were dumped some time ago. They are currently in the hands of authorities, who are looking into the history of the individuals in an effort to identify the cemetery the stones may have come from. One of the stones is for Effie A. Ferryman, who may be the individual who died 12 April, 1920, and lived in Springfield, Clark County, for several years prior to her death in 1920. Is it possible that one of the list's detectives can identify where she was buried, so that we may compare an inventory of that cemetery with other names recovered? Older inventories may be most helpful, as newer "readings" may not include her, at least ones made after her stone was removed. Another possibility to be eliminated is that this is a "spare" stone, removed when it was replaced by a newer, more ornate one by someone "improving" her grave. Finding a stone in place today for Effie might suggest that these stones are really a form of stone scrap. Another possibility is that the Springfield Effie is the wrong one, and finding her burial spot and determining that her stone is secure, and undisturbed since her burial in 1920 can help rule out this possibility.
